Job Description

The Guest Experience Coordinator is a key member of the congregation team, responsible for leading guest services initiatives, managing event logistics, executing digital communications, and providing operational support to ensure an exceptional experience for all attendees. This person will coordinate guest services and follow-up processes to ensure new visitors feel welcomed and engaged, manage social media execution with a volunteer team, and oversee the creation and distribution of the weekly newsletter. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, people-focused, and capable of juggling multiple tasks while maintaining a heart for the mission of Mariners Church.

A full time position, the schedule generally includes weekend services, meetings at our office in Irvine, and additional time during the week for a total of 40 hours.  This position is nonexempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

 Guest Experience

  • Guest Services & Next Step Teams: Lead and train volunteers for the Guest Services (parking team, ushers, greeters, etc.) and Next Step Teams, ensuring a welcoming and organized environment for all guests and helping them take next steps. Responsible for executing congregational digital communications.

  • Event Planning & Logistics: Lead planning and logistics for congregation events such as Welcome to Mariners Lunch, Series Launch Celebrations, and training events. This includes working with volunteers, coordinating locations, setting up event spaces, and ensuring smooth execution.

Volunteer Onboarding & Management

  • Volunteer Database: Support the volunteer onboarding process, including background checks, live scan, and volunteer confirmation for roles and responsibilities.

  • Roster Management: Maintain up-to-date volunteer rosters for various teams, ensuring accurate tracking of volunteers and their roles. Create new registration forms when needed and update rosters as necessary.

Operational Support

  • Calendar & Roadmap Management: Assist in the management of the congregation’s calendar, ensuring that key events and initiatives are properly scheduled and communicated to the team.

  • Follow-Up Process: Oversee the full follow-up process for Connect cards, ensuring all new guests are contacted and integrated into the life of the church. Track and report relevant metrics on guest engagement and response.

  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with the congregation team and other departments to ensure communication is streamlined and that events and initiatives are fully supported.

Digital Communications & Social Media

  • Weekly Newsletter: Collaborate with the Lead Pastor to curate, write, and distribute the weekly church newsletter to keep the congregation informed and engaged.

  • Social Media Execution: Oversee social media content creation, scheduling, and posting across platforms, with support from a volunteer team. Ensure consistent messaging that aligns with the church’s mission and brand.

*Please note this role is for a future congregation that will not be located in Irvine, CA.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a volunteer team, fostering a collaborative and positive environment.
  • Proficient in digital tools for communication, including email marketing platforms, social media management tools, and basic office software.
  • Strong understanding of church culture and commitment to the mission of Mariners Church.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and adapt to changing needs and circumstances.
  • Experience in event planning, volunteer management, or related fields is a plus.
  • Passion for creating an excellent experience for all guests and volunteers.
  • Servant-hearted, with a willingness to help wherever needed.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work collaboratively across various departments.
  • Motivated self-starter with a proactive approach to responsibilities.
  • A heart for people, especially those who are new to the church or exploring their faith.
