Business Intelligence Analyst

SUMMARY

The Business Intelligence Analyst assists with the overall administration of asset/liability management, credit risk management, profitability and data analysis, budgeting and forecasting, investment processes, data mining, and management reporting at Mirastar FCU. The incumbent collects, monitors, and analyzes financial information to budget and forecast financial performance, spot trends, identify risk, and make recommendations for improvements. Have a broad understanding and deep perspective on data needs for end users to develop scalable analytics and provide data in a way that can inform decision-making in both the present and the future. Works with the Business Intelligence Manager to understand business drivers and organizational strategic direction to provide correct, timely, and complete financial analyses.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·         Education and/or Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and a range of 3 to 5 years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

·         Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None required, CPA preferred.

·         Geographical Location: This position may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement. Individuals working in this position must be located within the state of California.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

·         Assisting in preparing various source files and data for asset/liability management (ALM) analysis and working with a third-party ALM vendor

·         Assisting in the evaluation of credit risk levels and trends, and preparation of reports and analyses of credit risk

·         Creating and maintaining spreadsheets and using appropriate software to produce charts and graphs to illustrate technical reports

·         Develop and maintain data visualizations

·         Perform exploratory data analysis to identify data trends and anomalies

·         Assisting with building financial models and performing valuation analyses

·         Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports and dashboards.

·         Assisting in the creation of budgets and forecasts

·         Producing quarterly ALM reports, analyzing data and spotting trends and risks, communicating and reporting them to the Business Intelligence Manager and CFO

·         Recommending actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses

·         Monitoring fundamental economic, industrial, and corporate developments through the analysis of information obtained from financial publications and services, investment banking firms, government agencies, trade publications, company sources, and personal interviews

·         Forecasting cash flow positions, related borrowing needs, and available funds for investment. 

·         Ensuring compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures; Ensuring that operations are conducted in accordance with established Credit Union policies, legal and regulatory requirements, including, but not limited to, understanding of the compliance with the Credit Union’s BSA-AML program

·         Compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, and USA PATRIOT Act, including but not limited to reporting suspicious activities to supervisor and the BSA Officer.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

·         Strong analytical and organizational skills required.

·         Excellent attention to detail.

·         Must exhibit a significant level of trust and diplomacy in addition to normal courtesy and tact. 

·         Requires broad conceptual judgment, initiative, and ability to deal with complex finance issues.

·         Maintain current knowledge and understanding of industry trends and practices. 

·         Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel and have the aptitude to easily learn financial software programs.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Work will require extensive personal contact with others. 

·         Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities concurrently, and complete projects on schedule with a high degree of accuracy. 

·         Ability to work well under pressure, show initiative, deliver results, achieve timely goals, set appropriate priorities, and maintain complete confidentiality. 

·         Ability to demonstrate commitment to self-improvement by taking the initiative of learning new skills, systems, and procedures, as well as taking advantage of the continuous education opportunities within and outside of the Credit Union

·         Full-time hours required, with additional work hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects.
