NASA Federal Credit Union is in search of a Reconciliation Accountant to assist with preparing and generating month-end financial statements, including general ledger postings, review of ledger activity, documenting and substantiating period to period variances within monthly financial statements for NASA Federal. The Reconciliation Accountant will assist with the preparatory work prior to internal audits or regulatory examinations of the Credit Union and remains an active resource during the audit/examination. This position will also assist with projects as a team member or in a project lead capacity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following with other duties may be assigned.- Remains cognizant of and adheres to Credit Union policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.
- Upholds NASA Federal’s mission and core values.
- Applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles that include work that is analytical, creative, evaluative and advisory in nature and that requires an understanding of both accounting theory and practice.
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare ledger entries, documenting business transactions.
- Prepares daily, weekly and monthly general ledger and/or bank account reconciliations up to and including research, clarification, and correction of outstanding items.
- Prepares the Self-Funded Health Insurance reconciliations and monthly accruals.
- Maintains the third-party loan participant accounting to include monthly cash reconciliations and participant reporting.
- Analyzes, reviews, documents and substantiates period to period variances within monthly financial statements for NASA Federal.
- Assists with preparatory work prior to internal audits or regulatory examinations of the Credit Union and remains an available resource during the audit/examination.
- Assists with team projects.
- Supports the daily operational needs of the Accounting division,
- Creates and maintains procedures.
- Assists with special accounting assignments as needed.
Education and Experience:- Relevant coursework or Associates degree in Accounting; with at least 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Relies on experience and judgment, requiring minimal supervision.
- Applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that include work that is analytical, creative, evaluative and advisory in nature and that requires an understanding of both accounting theory and practice.
Other Skills and Abilities: - Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and use of Accounting systems such as Sage and/or Quicken.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment driven by deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with a high level of difficulty.
- Person must be diligent and self- motivated with attention to detail.

Salary: $55,000 - $82,500 /Annually (Based on experience)
