Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('SpinCo') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

NBCUniversal's product and engineering teams drive transformation of key Finance processes across Record-to-Report (RTR), Procure-to-Pay (PTP), Order-to-Cash (OTC), Treasury, Tax and FP&A. In additional, our engineering teams will play a key role in cross-functional workstreams like Transformation Management Office (TMO), master data governance, reporting, security, risk and controls and change management.

Project Keystone will be a multi-year endeavor, driving NBCUniversal’s transformation goal of building a globally standardized, flexible, and data-driven business platform that enables NBCU to make better and faster decisions based on real time insights.

This Manager, Software Engineering role will provide state-of-art engineering and architectural support for the SAP S/4 HANA Financial, Procurement and Subledger system build and deployment including integration with other systems. This role will include managing and mentoring internal and external engineering teams to deliver high quality S/4 HANA clean core solutions through ABAP and Fiori technical development that meet overall business requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage onsite and offshore employee and vendor resources engaged in S4 HANA SAP Development (ABAP and Fiori) resources taking accountability for their deliverables and quality adherence to NBCU engineering standards
  • Work with the team of architects and onsite leads for SAP S4 HANA engineering development strategy, architecture, and governance of application development and engineering related activities for NBCU
  • Manage teams and work with product and other engineering teams to architect, design and evaluate different technical design options for custom development options keeping in mind SAP's S4 HANA clean core principles and NBCU best practices in mind
  • Provide estimation for technical work effort when required and ensure high-quality and on-schedule deliverables
  • Design, develop, track and report out on complex technical project plans in line with overall PMO published build and development timelines
  • Take a lead role in maintaining and enforcing ABAP naming, coding and development standards, and providing architecture and design guidance to the development team keeping in mind SAP's Clean Core principles utilizing tools like ATC (ABAP Test Cockpit), CCM (Custom Code Management) and others.
  • Work closely with Product Teams, Change Management, Testing and other Engineering teams like BASIS and BTP Integration to identify opportunities for improvements or cost savings.
  • Mentor and train Application development and other engineering team members keeping in mind NBCU’s Operations and Technology goals in mind to foster a high performing engineering team
  • Drive innovation and exploration in the SAP Engineering space at NBCU.
  • Encourage and support experimentation with new SAP technologies and tools, which involves setting aside dedicated time for team members to explore and prototype solutions as well as organizing internal hackathons or knowledge-sharing sessions to ensure the team stays current and competitive

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Education degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering or related discipline with an information technology focus, or an equivalent combination of education and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Experience as an Architect/Senior consultant with a total of 7+ years SAP ABAP engineering (development) experience, including 2+ years of Team Lead and/or people management experience.
  • Knowledge in various SAP modules and Integration development working on large-scale SAP S/4 transformations
  • Experience independently managing and leading a large 30+ member development team engaged in SAP ABAP and Fiori build activities, including estimating, planning and managing execution including the reporting of status of technical build activities including issues and risks
  • Deep knowledge of ABAP build process from Functional Specification review stage, through coding, technical unit testing and code reviews to Functional Unit Testing and support of the product teams during SIT, UAT and Cutover
  • Experience working in a multi-SAP landscape environment with parallel development tracks and is aware of the roll in and retrofit process for merging changes in dual landscape setup
  • Strong understanding of Finance based SAP design and process flows around GL Account based Journal entry postings, Invoice creation and posting, Accounts Payable and Receivable process, Revenue Recognition and the use of substitution exits  
  • Knowledge of underlying SAP S4 HANA FI Table structures and fields  
  • Awareness of common API’s, BAPI’s and Function Modules in the FI area related to financial postings, currency calculation, tax determination, payment runs, bank statements etc 
  • Experience in transformation projects e.g., from SAP ECC to S/4 HANA (S/4 Conversions, green field, brown field, blue field etc.)
  • ECC Development Experience
    • Confirmed ability in using traditional ECC development practices and techniques using BADI’s, BAPI’s, LSMW, ALE, RFC calls, IDOC, BDC, business objects, classes and methods, Adobe Forms, SmartForms, SAPScripts, Data Dictionary, ALV
    • Strong ABAP debugging skills, performance monitoring and tracing and workflow experience
  • S/4 HANA Development Experience
    • Knowledge and awareness of SAP Clean Core principles including use of released API's, in app extensibility options and key user extensibility
    • Knowledge of 3-Tier extensibility model and RAP (Restful ABAP Programming) and CAP (Cloud Application Programming) models
    • Experience in migrating custom code base from ECC or Suite-on-HANA (SoH) systems onto a S/4 HANA platform applying both technical remediation and Clean Core frameworks
    • Implementation knowledge on Native SQL, ADBC, External View, ABAP Core data Services, AMDP Procedures, Text Search, ALV on HANA.
    • Practical experience in creating custom and enhance standard CDS views and AMDP class based on business requirement and use of various available annotation in CDS views
    • Knowledge of OData services using CDS and AMDP, Workflow experience, including support and debugging
    • Good knowledge on other new SAP technologies such as Fiori SAPUI5, SAP BTP Integration Suite
