Job Overview: The Communications Intern will play a vital role in supporting the New York Giants' Communications Department. The internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the sports communications field, by assisting in helping to streamline daily communications between the media, players, coaches, and the front office.
Key Responsibilities: The Communications Intern will assist with a variety of tasks, including but not limited to the following:
- Assist with the design, writing and production of the weekly release, player bios and miscellaneous stats on InDesign (NFLOMG.com)
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating player interviews, as assigned, for both external and internal media outlets.
- Responsible for transcribing owner, coach and player press conferences throughout the week
- Assist with the distribution of all Giants PR communication pieces (transcripts, notebooks, game stories, etc.)
- Assist with media credential requests for training camp, games and weekly practices via Accredit credentialing system
- Record daily media availability sessions and transcribe
- Assist with the creation of the flip card for all home games
- Responsible for press box set up on game day (seating charts, labels, booth signs, etc.)
- Responsible for the distribution of daily clips
- Retrieve, format and distribute league in-season stats, as well as in-season miscellaneous league and game information via email
- Distribute postgame materials and documents (statistics) via email
- Monitor practice to ensure media and spectators remain in appropriate areas
- Monitor social media accounts of players and media
- The ideal candidate will be expected to preserve confidential information
- Effective writing and oral communication skills required
- Candidates with an interest and experience in utilizing team statistics to generate media coverage will be highly considered
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer) and Adobe (InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat) proficiency is required
- Recently completed bachelor's degree in one of the following areas is preferred but not essential: Communications, Journalism, Sports Management, Sports Marketing or Sports Communications
- Must be available to work non-traditional hours, holidays, and weekends as it relates to the NFL schedule.
