  • Secure media placements in local and national outlets, including television, radio, print, and online media.
  • Coordinate interviews and press briefings for key NYPCC staff and stakeholders.
  • Develop engaging content (blog posts, op-eds, social media posts) to supplement media outreach and support broader campaign efforts.
  • Monitor and track media coverage and report on the success of the PR campaign.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistency in messaging and brand voice across all materials.
  • Assist with creating and distributing digital content and press kits to enhance public awareness of NYPCC’s work.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in public relations, media outreach, or communications, preferably in the non-profit, mental health, or healthcare sectors.
  • Strong relationships with journalists, influencers, and media outlets covering mental health, social services, and community health.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to translate complex mental health topics into accessible, engaging content for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated success in securing media placements and generating positive press coverage.
  • Experience in managing campaigns around awareness months or advocacy initiatives is a plus.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues, especially in underserved communities, is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • A passion for mental health advocacy and social justice.

Compensation:
This is a project-based contract position, with compensation commensurate with experience.

How to Apply:
Please submit your resume, a cover letter, and be prepared to share at least two writing samples or media placements you have worked on to.
