Job Summary
The Software Development Manager – Regulatory is responsible for leading and managing software development efforts focused on compliance, regulatory requirements, and interoperability. This role oversees a team of high-performing software developers, ensuring the delivery of robust, scalable solutions aligned with healthcare regulations and organizational objectives. Reporting to the Director of Software Development, the Software Development Manager plays a pivotal role in evaluating project scope, assessing feasibility and driving technical execution while fostering innovation and efficiency.

Essential Functions- Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead and manage the development of compliance-driven software in a SCRUM environment, utilizing C#, C++, and SQL.
- Manage, mentor, and monitor software engineers to ensure team growth and productivity.
- Shape team priorities, guide task assignments, and drive process improvements within the software engineering department.
- Software Development Excellence:
- Advocate and implement best practices, including Code Reviews, Unit Testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Architect and design solutions for complex systems, ensuring alignment with industry and organizational standards.
- Conduct hands-on technical leadership, including testing, coding, and reviewing team members’ work.
- Regulatory Compliance and Interoperability:
- Ensure all software solutions meet healthcare regulatory standards, including HIPAA, Meaningful Use, and the Cures Act.
- Integrate regulatory frameworks such as FHIR, CCDA, eCQMs, and familiarity with standards like SDOH and USCDI into development processes.
- Project and Stakeholder Management:
- Evaluate upcoming work and assess the scope and feasibility of projects, ensuring timely completion.
- Collaborate with product owners to write high-quality requirements and provide accurate project estimates.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, often balancing competing priorities.
- Customer-Focused Solutions:
- Resolve advanced issues for customer-facing systems, ensuring compliance with industry best practices.
- Maintain a deep understanding of Nextech’s products and technologies to deliver effective solutions.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Drive organizational improvements across the software team.
- Lead and coordinate projects independently, ensuring alignment with business needs.
- Carry out other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Requirements- Technical Expertise:
- Strong proficiency in C#, C++, and MS SQL.
- Minimum of 10+ years of industry experience, including developing robust, scalable microservices backends.
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience with the Microsoft tech stack.
- At least 3+ years using Microsoft SQL Server, including writing advanced queries.
- Leadership Skills:
- Proven experience delivering a product to market using Agile methodologies.
- Proven experience as a lead, coach, or supervisor, providing feedback and guidance to a team of engineers.
- Ability to foster collaboration and maintain constructive dialogue within the team and across cross-functional teams.
- Compliance Knowledge:
- Familiarity with healthcare regulatory frameworks such as HIPAA, FHIR, CCDA, eCQMs, and standards like SDOH and USCDI.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Personal drive to thrive in a dynamic environment while taking ownership and pride in your work.
- A passion for creativity, motivation, and maintaining attention to detail in all aspects of software development.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with Git, GitHub, and Jira.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, including Azure DevOps.
- Experience with EMR systems (Electronic Medical Records).
- Knowledge of healthcare regulatory standards, including Meaningful Use and the Cures Act
