As the Sales Director for Data Centers, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and market penetration of our data center solutions as we expand our presence in the data center space. As we further develop our solutions to the data center market, this role requires a dynamic seller to penetrate and sell our Data Center solutions.
You will be responsible for building sales strategy, developing customer relationships, and positioning our solutions for the data center industry. This role demands a strong understanding of both telecom infrastructure and data center offerings, as well as the ability to navigate a new market and create a competitive advantage in the growing data center industry.
Key Responsibilities- Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to introduce and grow our data center offerings in the market. Identify key market segments, verticals, and potential clients for colocation, Hyperscalers, and related solutions.
- Market Expansion: Lead the efforts to break into the data center market, leveraging existing telecom capabilities and infrastructure. Identify new business opportunities and strategically position our services to meet the needs of potential customers.
- Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships and serve as the key point of contact for high-value accounts, working closely to understand their requirements and deliver customized data center solutions.
- New Business Development: Identify and target new business opportunities within the telecom, cloud, and IT sectors. Collaborate with the marketing and business development teams to create effective lead generation and customer acquisition strategies.
- Sales Cycle Management: Oversee the entire sales cycle from prospecting to contract negotiation and closure. Efficiently managing your pipeline, qualifying opportunities, and closing and negotiation data center contracts.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product teams, operations, and engineering to ensure smooth delivery of solutions that meet customer expectations. Provide market feedback to the product team on emerging customer needs, technology trends, and competitor activity.
- Negotiation & Contract Management: Lead negotiations for large-scale data center contracts and agreements, ensuring the terms align with company objectives and provide value to customers. Review and approve proposals, pricing, and other contractual documents.
- Market Insights & Competitor Analysis: Conduct market research to identify trends in the telecom and data center industries. Stay ahead of competitor offerings and emerging technologies, ensuring our solutions are positioned to meet future customer needs.
- Sales Forecasting & Reporting: Oversee sales forecasting, pipeline management, and reporting. Provide regular updates to the executive team on sales performance, opportunities, and strategic initiatives.
- Customer Success: Work closely with customer success teams to ensure that new clients are onboarded successfully and that existing customers are satisfied with service delivery. Help resolve any post-sale issues that may arise and drive customer retention.
Key Skills and Qualifications:- Experience: At least 7-10 years in sales leadership roles, with at least 5 years of experience in the data center industry. Proven track record of successfully introducing and selling new solutions or services into a new market or industry.
- Data Center: Deep rolodex, proven track record of selling managed services into Co-locators/ Hyperscalers, a plus to have strong understanding of Data Center Architectures, including colocation, cloud platforms ( AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), edge computing, hybrid IT environments and IT structure.
- Sales Skills: Strong track record of success in B2B sales, especially in complex, enterprise-level sales environments. Expertise in managing long sales cycles and closing large, high-value contracts with senior stakeholders.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and develop innovative sales approaches in a new and competitive market. Strong business acumen and problem-solving skills.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the data center and telecom industries, including market trends, customer needs, and competitive players. Ability to position our services in a differentiated and compelling way.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to clearly communicate complex technical offerings to non-technical decision-makers and stakeholders.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Marketing, Telecommunications, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Tools & Systems: Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), sales forecasting tools, and performance tracking systems.
