The Clinical Research team at Noom sits at the intersection of science and product innovation. We design, execute, and communicate rigorous studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of Noom’s behavior-change interventions. Our work informs clinical validation, product development, and go-to-market strategies, ensuring that Noom remains a leader in evidence-based digital health. Noom has built a suite of world class digital and clinical interventions to drive powerful health outcomes, and has an extremely large user base and dataset, offering a unique asset to our clinical research organization.

Noom has developed an exceptional record of published research, with over dozens of peer-reviewed papers published evaluating the effectiveness and impact of our programs (see full list here), including multiple gold-standard randomized controlled trials. Noom’s research portfolio spans retrospective and prospective studies across health outcomes and health economics, in areas ranging from obesity and weight care to psychology and mental health to diabetes and cardiometabolic care, and beyond.

 

About the Role

As we continue to grow, we’re seeking a Head of Clinical Research to lead Noom’s clinical research roadmap and ensure it aligns with our business priorities. This is a high-impact leadership role where you'll drive the design and execution of rigorous clinical studies, manage and mentor a high-performing research team, and communicate the scientific credibility of Noom’s interventions.

 

You Will

  • Own and evolve Noom’s Clinical Research strategy, aligning it with company-wide objectives and product priorities.
  • Design and oversee a robust clinical research pipeline, ensuring methodological rigor, scientific integrity, and regulatory readiness.
  • Manage, mentor, and scale a high-performing Clinical Research team.
  • Lead research efforts in developing novel study designs and applying innovative data analysis approaches.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Data, Medical, and Marketing teams to support evidence generation that informs product development and go-to-market strategies.
  • Represent Noom externally by translating complex research into clear, compelling narratives in publications, enterprise settings, and at conferences.

 

About You

You are extremely dynamic, fast-moving, and flexible. If you’re interested in shaping the future of health by building and leading clinical research that supports life-changing digital health interventions, this role may be for you!

 

You Have

  • PhD, MD, or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., epidemiology, clinical fields, public health).
  • 8+ years of experience designing and running clinical or behavioral intervention studies, with an emphasis on digital or remote studies.
  • Proven experience managing, mentoring, and scaling research teams.
  • Strong knowledge of study design and operations, statistical analysis, and publication standards.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align scientific work with business and product goals.
  • Exceptional communicator—capable of distilling complex findings for a variety of stakeholders, and capable of translating business needs into clear research hypotheses
  • Experience with data systems and tools like databricks, Looker, SQL, R, and/or Python.
  • Bonus: Experience with digital health interventions.

Base Salary The US base salary range for this full-time position is $145,000-$197,000. 

  • The range displayed on each job posting is based on Noom’s estimate as of the date of publication and reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position for US-based candidates. The actual placement of the candidate within the range is based on factors including (but not limited to) relevant experience and training, assessment of functional skills and behavioral competencies, role scope, and location. This range is not inclusive of any discretionary bonus or equity package.

 

Other Elements of the Rewards Package 

  • Noom offers a comprehensive and generous total rewards package. This generally includes a discretionary performance-based bonus, stock awards, healthcare, disability & retirement benefits, paid holidays and paid leave, and various wellness programs, etc.

 

Location

  • This position is a hybrid role, with 2-3 days a week on-site required in one of our offices:
    • New York, NY, USA (preferred)
    • Princeton, NJ, USA
