Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Remote

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer at Orca, you will play a key role in shaping the backbone of our systems and workflows. Your mission will be to ensure our infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and efficient, empowering the engineering team to deliver high-impact solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Shape AWS Workflows: Design, manage, and optimize AWS infrastructure with a focus on scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency. Triage and resolve critical infrastructure issues proactively.

  • Enhance CI/CD Pipelines: Build and refine CI/CD processes using modern tools, ensuring seamless, secure, and efficient deployments.

  • Elevate Observability: Develop robust monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using tools like Datadog or Grafana to improve visibility and system performance.

  • Promote Stability and Scalability: Architect systems that handle growth effortlessly, minimize downtime, and maintain high performance.

  • Design Alerting Systems: Implement effective alerting mechanisms to prioritize and address critical issues proactively.

  • Streamline Infrastructure Workflows: Optimize and document infrastructure processes, leveraging tools like Terraform, Docker, and Airflow to create scalable and maintainable systems.

  • Collaborate on System Design: Partner with engineering teams to design and refine infrastructure that powers features like real-time monitoring, automated transaction execution, and analytics.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven Experience: A strong track record of working on high-performance, scalable systems with expertise in release engineering, infrastructure, and operations.

  • AWS Proficiency: Extensive experience with AWS services (e.g., ECS, copilot, Cloudwatch) and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize cloud-based systems.

  • CI/CD Expertise: Hands-on experience with tools like GitHub Action for reliable and efficient deployment workflows.

  • Observability Knowledge: Familiarity with tools like Datadog to build actionable monitoring and alerting systems.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, and containerization tools like Docker. Experience with orchestrators like Kubernetes or Airflow is a plus.

  • Balanced Mindset: Comfortable working independently in an async environment while collaborating effectively with a team. You understand trade-offs and advocate for pragmatic solutions.

  • Understanding of DeFi: Familiarity with Decentralized Finance (DeFi) concepts, AMMs, and the Solana ecosystem is a plus but not required.

What We Offer

  • Salary: 175,000 - 220,000 USDC (Range for US Employees)

  • Token Allocation: 50,000 - 100,000 ORCA over 4 years (Range for US Employees)

Our Hiring Process
We like to be transparent and efficient. We move fast, and this process will be short and intense. We believe this process gives candidates the best experience in getting decisions quickly instead of long, drawn out interview rounds that last weeks.

Initial Screen (30 min)

This will be for us to get an understanding of your experiences and test your knowledge of Solana and DeFi. It is also an opportunity for you to learn more about the role and company.

Coding and COO Round (60 min)

The first 30 min will be a coding question with our Tech Recruiter. Depending on the outcome, this could lead to a 30-45 min interview with Isaac, who is our COO. It's a chance for you to learn about Orca's history, present status, and its bright future. He will also gauge your knowledge of AMMs and DeFi.

Technical Interviews (60 min each)

This round will consist of 3 open-ended coding interviews back-to-back all conducted the same day. It will be with Yutaro (Founder/CTO), Brenton or Will (Infra), and Phil (Sr Engineer).
