Manager, Mortgage Sales

About Orchard

Orchard is radically simplifying the way people buy and sell their homes. For the average American, the home purchase and sale process takes months, creates anxiety, and is filled with uncertainty and hassle. Orchard has reimagined the end-to-end experience of buying and selling, from innovative home search tools to find the perfect home to the ability to buy a new home before selling your current one. Orchard customers manage the entire experience through a personalized online dashboard, while also getting the support of best-in-class Orchard real estate agents.

Headquartered in New York City with teammates across the US, Orchard has 150+ full time employees and 400+ real estate agents (1099). We have financing from top-tier investors including Revolution, Firstmark, Accomplice, Navitas and Juxtapose, who have also backed the likes of Pinterest, AirBnb, Shopify and Sweetgreen. We're proud to have been recognized by Crain's, Inc. 5000, Glassdoor, Parity.org and Built In on their lists of best places to work.

About the Role

As a Mortgage Sales Manager, you and your team will be responsible for new client acquisition for mortgage loans and overall customer satisfaction and success. You will primarily acquire these mortgage loans from clients that are purchasing homes with real estate agents at our sister company Orchard Brokerage (who are top producing agents in their markets) and from customers coming to Orchard looking to use our Move First offering. You will be focused on coaching the team on relationship development with our agents, building trust with our agents and customers, and best practices for driving conversion and sales success in mortgage.

The Mortgage Sales Manager role will require leading your team from the front and being able to adapt to change as Orchard launches new products and processes. The key expectations for this role are to work with your team closely to drive conversion and build lasting and meaningful relationships with agents through coaching your team, holding them accountable to customer and agent service expectations, and implementing best practices to make them better.

This is a full time role that can be fully remote in these locations: AZ, CO, CT, FL, GA, MD, NC, NV, WA, MI, NC, TX.

What you’ll do here

  • You’ll inherit a team of experienced Loan Officers and be responsible for driving their success in hitting acquisition targets and delivering an excellent customer experience.
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external clients, as well as talk to real estate agents, processors, closers, sales leaders, and more.
  • Develop a high performing sales culture through coaching, call listening, pipeline reviews, and holding your team accountable
  • Clearly communicate metrics, actionable insights, and progress on a regular cadence to develop your agents and improve their performance.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales Operations to influence strategy, analyze results, identify areas of opportunity, and improve systems.
  • Communicate diligently with the rest of the Orchard team to ensure the highest level of service to all clients from initial contact through contract to close.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • At least 5+ years of experience in a mortgage sales role focused on acquiring purchase business from agent relationships. Experience in an affiliate mortgage model preferred
  • At least 1+ years of direct sales management experience in the mortgage industry
  • Strong Purchase experience required with an understanding of Conventional, VA, and FHA loans. Experience brokering Non-QM and Jumbo loans is a plus.
  • Track record of success in quota driven roles. Strong coaching skills to bring the best out of your team to drive success.
  • Ability to hold your team accountable to hitting a high performance standard and being best in class for our agents and customers
  • Desire to take initiative; lean in with your team; thrive on change and be comfortable with ambiguity.
  • An owner’s mentality, taking on whatever work is needed for you and your team to thrive.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to drive change and move the business forward.
  • Results oriented with a strong work ethic. Must be driven, with the emotional intelligence to know when to push harder and when to look for alternative approaches.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with good business judgment and maturity, diplomacy, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work based on business and operational needs.
