Governance Coordinator

We are seeking a Governance Coordinator to play a fundamental role in supporting our Governance team and ensuring that we are operating to our highest level. Working in an administrative capacity, you'll be responsible for working with high profile internal and internal stakeholders, coordinating diaries and organising meetings in a fast paced and agile environment. Ultimately, your expertise will help to underpin our governance and advisory structure, ensuring that good governance practices are embedded within the organisation.

Our Future Health will be the UK’s largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to detect, prevent and treat diseases. We are a charity, supported by the UK Government, in partnership with charities and industry. We work closely with the NHS and with public authorities across all nations and regions of the UK.

Our plan is to bring together 5 million volunteers from right across the UK who will be asked to contribute information to help build one of the most detailed pictures we have ever had of people’s health. Researchers will be able to use this information to make new discoveries about human health and diseases. So future generations can live in good health for longer.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Scheduling regular meetings (in person and online) for Boards and Committees and other ad hoc meetings as required, ensuring that all logistical arrangements are in place.
  • Working with the Governance Manager to obtain, collate and circulate papers for meetings and ensure that they are appropriately stored and accessible.
  • Maintaining a record of attendance at meetings.
  • Obtaining and storing relevant information about individual Board and Committee members and maintaining a single database of key information.
  • Ensuring that Board and Committee member reappointments are brought forward for consideration in a timely way.
  • Maintaining registers of external interests.
  • Maintaining and regularly sharing a schedule of Board and Committee members and meeting dates.
  • Updating the governance pages on the website and intranet.
  • Preparing the weekly news digest for Board and Committee members.

You will have some of the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience within administration and coordination.
  • The ability to make independent and pragmatic judgements and decisions, responding to requests accordingly in a timely manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, with excellent time management skills and the ability to plan and prioritise effectively whilst working to multiple deadlines.
  • An understanding and appreciation of the importance of maintaining confidentiality.
  • Highly proficient in all MS Office applications.
  • An ability to adapt to changing circumstances quickly and take initiative where appropriate.
  • Generous Pension Scheme – We invest in your future with employer contributions of up to 12%.
  • 30 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays – Enjoy a generous holiday allowance with the flexibility to take bank holidays when it suits you.
  • Enhanced Parental Leave – Supporting you during life’s biggest moments.
  • Career Growth & Development – £500 per year to spend on Learnerbly, our learning platform, plus regular appraisals and development opportunities.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme – Save 25-39% on a new bike and accessories through salary sacrifice.
  • Home & Tech Savings – Get up to 8% off on IKEA and Currys products, spreading the cost over 12 months through salary sacrifice
  • £1,000 Employee Referral Bonus – Know someone amazing? Get rewarded for bringing them on board!
  • Wellbeing Support – Access to Mental Health First Aiders, plus 24/7 online GP services and an Employee Assistance Programme for you and your family.
