The opportunity
As a Purchasing & Logistics Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in the development and optimization of our purchasing processes, supplier relationships, and logistics operations. In this position you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of purchasing, logistics, and supply chain management. You will work closely with all teams to ensure efficient procurement processes, negotiate with key suppliers, and manage the transportation and customs processes for goods shipped across Europe. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, start-up environment and is comfortable handling end-to-end purchasing and logistics operations. Your key responsibilities
- Develop and implement end-to-end purchasing processes, ensuring operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality assurance as the company scales.
- Lead negotiations with existing and evaluate new potential suppliers, focusing on securing favorable terms and long-term partnerships.
- Monitor and analyze supplier performance, ensuring compliance with company standards and objectives.
- Manage the logistics of shipping goods throughout Europe, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery, while working closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal teams.
- Handle all aspects of VAT, customs duties, and import/export regulations, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and local laws.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with stock management to prevent overstocking or stockouts.
- Collaborate closely with finance, sales, and operations teams to align purchasing and logistics strategies with overall business goals.
- Advise and guide internal teams and suppliers on the correct use of Incoterms to streamline logistics operations and maintain compliance.
What you need to bring to the role
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in international purchasing and logistics.
- Proven experience in managing purchase agreements for large equipment and plant manufacturing, ensuring efficient sourcing, negotiation, and on-time delivery from strategic suppliers to support operational and project needs.
- Knowledge of European shipping regulations, VAT, Incoterms and customs procedures.
- Strong negotiation, supplier management and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis); experience with ERP systems and other logistics management tools is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
- Fluency in English and German is required; knowledge of French or Italian is a plus.
- Have a Swiss working permit or be eligible to work in Switzerland.
