> about the company
Our goal at P-1 AI is to develop an artificial general engineering (super)intelligence that can help the human species design physical systems more efficiently and at unprecedented levels of complexity. Going beyond existing foundation models, our autonomous AI agent learns from synthetic training data and real-world feedback and reasons over an internal multi-physics representation of a product design that encompasses both geometry and function. We are a cracked team of (ex-DeepMind, Airbus, DARPA, Microsoft, etc.) AI researchers, engineers, physicists, entrepreneurs, and top industry executives backed by some of the best investors in Silicon Valley and beyond.
> about the role
In this role, you’ll be at the heart of where AI meets mechanical design. Our AI agent creates, consumes, and learns from 3D models, and you’ll be responsible for creating the link. You’ll be working on marrying traditional solid modeling tools with cutting-edge AI research. Working within a small, tightly-knit team of world-class engineers and researchers, you’ll be principally responsible for how our agentic AI uses and understands 3D representations and tools. If you have an in-depth understanding of 3D solid modeling, are passionate about software automation, love tackling complex engineering challenges, and want to work on the frontier of applied AI, this role offers you the perfect platform to make a huge impact and work with some of the smartest minds in the industry.
> responsibilities
* Ensure the successful integration of 3D modeling tools with our AI and its training process
* Create automations for building assemblies, manipulating geometries, computing outputs, and teaching an AI agent how to use them
* Curate our library of parametric 3D models and assemblies, working with a team of model-builders
* Specify and develop transformations between various solid modeling representations
* Hack various 3D modeling tools down to the kernel level
> skills
* Deep understanding of 3D modeling at the kernel level (e.g., Parasolid, OCCT3D) and have familiarity with a variety of CAD systems (SolidWorks, OnShape, NX); note that you do NOT need to be an expert CAD modeler (we have other people who do that)
* Fluency with various solid modeling representations with a focus mostly on explicit boundary representations; familiarity with implicit and programmatic representation is a big plus
* Demonstrated ability to create multi-tool automations
* Proficiency in modern software development tools and practices (Git, CI/CD, etc.)
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment
