About Plume:

Plume Health is a passion-fueled, mission-driven company that is trans-founded with a vision to transform healthcare for every trans life. We hope to make gender-affirming hormone therapy easily accessible at the touch of a button in every state of the US.

This work is deeply personal and heart-driven, and we want teammates who care about the mission and the people we serve. For the right candidates, we present a rare opportunity to do well by doing good. Plume offers an affirming, trans-centered, culturally inclusive, and fun work environment filled with purpose.

About the Role:

Support Group Facilitators empower and support the Plume community team to effectively provide Plume members with the support they need in navigating their gender journey and achieving improved health and wellness outcomes. This contracted role is overseen by the Community Support Manager.

As a facilitator, you will facilitate groups of Plume members, cultivating spaces for trans, nonbinary, and non-cis people to share their questions, experiences, and wisdom with one another on various topics; shared experiences, identities, interests, and more. Most groups are held once per week on a specific day and time and are hosted virtually.

This role is contracted and part-time (average 5-8 hours per week, up to 15 hours), with time split between facilitation, preparation, follow-up, and at times, training and consultation.

Some essential strengths of a Plume Support Group Facilitator should be building trusting relationships, communication, an ability to deal with sensitive and potentially divisive topics in a sensitive and inclusive manner, a deeply personal commitment to providing support to their peers, and an excitement for working in a constantly growing and evolving startup environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate peers in live virtual group settings to support them with barriers related to their experience with identity
  • Take an empathetic, proactive approach to meeting members' emotional needs as they arise
  • Help create agendas, discussion questions, and activities for support groups, drawing on your expertise and lived experience
  • Provide feedback on support group session structure, facilitator training materials, and other materials to improve Plume’s Support Group offering
  • Answer questions about Plume services and provide support to members in accessing those services
  • Engage with support group participants in the Plume Community Hub to encourage further community connection and engagement outside of group meetings
  • Utilize conflict resolution skills to address group dynamics and ensure that all members follow group agreements
  • Participate in regular team meetings, one-on-one meetings with the Program Manager, brainstorming sessions, and group development activities
  • Conduct peer reviews of other facilitators to support quality and consistency
  • Train and provide feedback to other Support Group Facilitators
  • Occasionally provide facilitation coverage for other Facilitators

Must-Have:
  • A strong understanding and appreciation for the trans experience
  • 2+ years of experience as a facilitator or peer support specialist
  • 2+ years of experience and a passion for supporting trans/nonbinary individuals, whether through professional work, community involvement, or volunteer roles.
  • 1+ years of experience facilitating virtual or online support groups, workshops, or learning experiences
  • Comfortability and experience facilitating workshops and educational content on issues related to equity, anti-discrimination, inclusion, anti-racism, trans/nonbinary issues, consent, and social justice
  • Experience discussing many of the sensitive issues that face the trans/nonbinary community, including: coming out, mental health, gender identity formation & expression, sexuality, relationships, family issues, isolation and loneliness, substance use, HIV and AIDS, and health and safety concerns in a group setting
  • Consistent availability on particular weekday evenings and weekends

Nice To Have:
  • 2+ years of experience working in a mental health-related field or equivalent education/certification such as Peer Support Specialist, Mental Health Advocate, Care Coordinator, Social Work Volunteer, Crisis Hotline or Textline Responder, Behavioral Health Aide, Community Health Worker, or Youth Worker
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate or support discussions tailored to at least two of the following communities: transfeminine, transmasculine, nonbinary, BIPOC, neurodivergent, parenting, disabled, legislative advocacy, or community engagement
  • Experience providing peer support in a telehealth or virtual environment
  • Familiarity with working in a fast-paced startup or evolving organizational set
  • Experience using productivity software; specifically Zoom, Slack, Google Sheets

Compensation:
  • This is a part-time contracted role and the pay is $30 per hour. This role is not eligible for Plume's employee benefit package.

We are accepting applications for this role until January 19th, 2025.
