Meteorological Internship

The Opportunity:

The Meteorological Intern participates and assists in daily operational tasks, including distributing incoming communication from customers, entering and quality controlling vessel data using proprietary software, drafting weather synopses, participating in team weather discussions, and contributing towards a department project. The intern also learns about marine meteorology and ship routing through independent tutorials and on the job training.

  • Learning about shipping industry
  • Learning about marine routing and forecasting
  • Learning about internal systems and software
  • Learning department standard operating procedures
  • Participating/contributing towards daily operational tasks
  • Participating/assisting in department projects
  • Hands-on marine meteorology training
  • Marine forecast discussions in team meetings
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

Education:

  • Working towards degree Bachelors or Masters) in Meteorology/Atmospheric Science
  • Upper level student (junior/senior/graduate)

  • Paid Internship: 25 hours per week - $16.50/hour
  • Remote Working
  • Professional Development and Networking
  • Entry level experience in private sector meteorology
  • Gaining knowledge of marine meteorology and forecasting
