3rd Line Desktop Support Engineer- Defence Sector

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled 3rd Line Desktop IT Engineer for a contracting role in the Defence sector. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in infrastructure and desktop support, with a strong background in resolving complex technical issues. This role requires the ability to commute to our Stevenage office on a hybrid basis and offers excellent day rates.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide advanced technical support for desktop and infrastructure issues, ensuring timely resolution.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical problems, escalating when necessary.
• Manage and maintain desktop environments, including hardware and software configurations.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and support of systems.
• Implement and maintain security protocols and procedures in line with Defence sector requirements.
• Prepare and present technical documentation and reports to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
• Support the deployment and maintenance of IT infrastructure projects.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior IT staff.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure and desktop support.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to commute to Stevenage on a hybrid basis.
• Security Clearance (SC) preferred.
• British nationality is required.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in the Defence sector or related industries.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and best practices.
• Knowledge of network and server administration.
• Proficiency with various desktop operating systems and software applications.
