We are seeking a BIM/GIS Coordinator IV (BIM/VDC Engineer) to play a vital role in ensuring Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) compliance across major bond-funded projects.

 

Position Overview

As a BIM/VDC Engineer, you will work closely with project managers, design teams, and construction personnel to ensure BIM compliance, project coordination, and digital asset management. You will also play a vital role in ensuring contractual and technical compliance in BIM-related work across bond-funded construction projects.

This position requires technical expertise in BIM workflows, project coordination, and data management to support the effective implementation of BIM standards, GIS integration, and digital modeling.

Key Responsibilities

BIM & VDC Compliance & Coordination:

  • Monitor and reconcile BIM data and project submittals from design and construction teams.
  • Ensure compliance with BIM scope of work for bond-funded infrastructure projects.
  • Support as-built information management by organizing and maintaining CAD/BIM drawings and related project documentation.
  • Review submittals to ensure adherence to BuildLACCD BIM standards and scope of services.
  • Coordinate BIM 360 model reviews and workflow administration.

Asset & Data Management:

  • Manage and track BIM submittals to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Support data transfer and documentation into Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Assist in the integration of GIS and BIM data within ArcGIS platforms.
  • Maintain and update SharePoint records for project documentation, including drawings, warranties, and specifications.

Collaboration & Field Support:

  • Liaise with college project teams to ensure project goals align with LACCD BIM standards.
  • Support project closeout processes, ensuring BIM data is properly delivered and verified.
  • Conduct site visits to assess and document construction progress using BIM technology.
  • Perform LiDAR scanning and link scan data to coordination and design models.

Minimum Qualifications:

6+ years of experience in Architecture, Construction Management, or Engineering with a strong BIM focus.

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Proficiency in BIM software: Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Recap, BIM360.

Experience with LiDAR scanning and photogrammetry.

Familiarity with data management tools: SharePoint, BIM360 Docs, Bluebeam.

Knowledge/proficiency working and utilizing BIM for 4D and project coordination/clash detection.

Experience working with design and construction teams to ensure BIM integration.

Strong communication and problem-solving skills to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

✔Required well-rounded experience working with Design and Construction Teams.

✔ Experience working with contractors, engineers, and architects.

✔ Strong knowledge of BIM workflows.

✔ Experience knowledge to perform data management task within SharePoint/BIM360 Docs/Bluebeam.

✔ Knowledge of construction submittal management and RFI/CCD processes.

✔ Experience with field surveying and data collection using LiDAR scanners.
