The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the transportation of goods from one location to another. This role includes managing communication between carriers, drivers, and customers, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries, and maintaining accurate records of shipments. A strong focus on organization, problem-solving, and customer service is key to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Load Management:
· Coordinate, track, and trace shipments from pickup to delivery.
· Book carriers for loads, ensuring competitive rates and timely service.
· Provide customers with real-time updates on shipment status.
· Handle unexpected challenges such as delays, equipment issues, and carrier fall-offs.
Communication:
· Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and carriers.
· Update customers and account managers on the progress of shipments.
· Liaise with carriers to confirm equipment and timelines (ETA, MC# verification, etc.).
· Facilitate problem resolution with drivers, carriers, and customers.
Documentation & Reporting:
· Ensure timely collection and upload of Proof of Delivery (PODs) and Bill of Lading (BOLs).
· Maintain accurate records of all transactions in the company’s logistics software (e.g., McLeod, Mercury Gate).
· Generate reports to track unbilled loads, margin, and performance metrics.
Carrier Relations:
· Build and maintain relationships with quality carriers to ensure reliable service.
· Assist account managers in quoting new loads and identifying market trends.
Skills & Experience
· Multitasking: Ability to handle multiple tasks, loads, and customer requests simultaneously.
· Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills are crucial for coordinating with various stakeholders.
· Problem Solving: Quick thinking and solution-oriented mindset to address issues during transit or scheduling.
· Attention to Detail: Ensure all shipment details, including equipment verification and documentation, are accurate.
· Teamwork: Collaborate closely with account managers, capacity managers, and other logistics coordinators to achieve team goals.
Tools and Software
· Logistics Systems: McLeod, Mercury Gate, DAT, Truckstop, E2open.
· Communication Tools: Microsoft Office Suite, Dialpad, Teams.
· Reporting Tools: Power BI, Excel for tracking margins and performance.
Education & Qualifications
· Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required; willingness to learn is highly valued.
· Experience: Previous experience in logistics or customer service is an advantage, but on-the-job training is provided.
Skills:
Fast typing and computer literacy.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Knowledge of the transportation industry and carrier networks.
Working Conditions
· Environment: Work in a well-lit, climate-controlled office environment.
· Hours: Typically 40 hours per week, with occasional overtime or on-call duties if shipments require attention outside of normal hours.

Timeliness: On-time pickups and deliveries.
Customer Satisfaction: Positive feedback and minimal service failures.
Financial Metrics: Revenue generated, margin per load, and loads booked
