Mechanical Designer/Drafter

PURVIS has an immediate full-time position open for a Mechanical Designer/Drafter with experience in SolidWorks,. AutoCAD and PCB (printed circuit board) software.  Candidate will be a member of the engineering design/drafting team.


The day-to-day responsibilities of this role include:
  • Support U.S Navy system designs and development.
  • Review of government furnished information (GFI) and engineering drawing redlines to incorporate into drawing packages as required.
  • Review engineering drawing readlines.
  • Develop 3D models by analyzing prototypes and 2D drawings.
  • Create, update and maintain mechanical drawing packages using Solidworks and AutoCAD.
  • Drawing packages may include production drawings, circuit card assemblies, parts list, schematic diagrams, assembly and test fixture drawings.
  • Update and maintain PCB drawings using Altium, CAM 350, or equivalent programs.
  • Ensure drawings comply with standards and practices.


Qualifications:
  • 5-10 years professional experience.
  • Ability to work independently and require little rework.
  • Ability to review engineering drawings and understand required changes.
  • Ability to work closely with Subject Matter Experts and U.S. Navy military and civilian personnel.
  • Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks required.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD required.
  • Knowledge of PCB software required; Altium is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) required.
  • Experience work with Autodesk inventor or other 3D packages is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of existing submarine systems, Military Specifications, and previous defense industry is a plus, but not required.


Candidate must be able to obtain a government security clearance to the level of SECRET.
