The role of Communication is to develop and lead strategic communications through storytelling, earned media, and influencer relations as well as marketing content creation to reach and engage new consumers more frequently.
The Senior Manager of Communication will be tasked with leading strategy and execution for communications throughout the region for their portfolios. They will be responsible for effectively positioning and delivering communication messages across various third-party and owned media channels (social media, web, TV, radio, and print) to bring our brand to life and establish Red Bull as relevant to our target audiences.
The Senior Manager of Communications serves as the "conductor of the orchestra" by collaborating with cross-functional teams within our media network to lead projects and activate Paid, Earned, Managed & Owned (PEMO) plans within sports, culture, brand initiatives, content development, and beverage product innovations. They will take full responsibility for earned media activation through relationship building with traditional third-party entities and amplifying social influencers.
Additionally, they will represent Red Bull’s voice to the consumer, ensuring consistent representation of the Red Bull brand across all marketing, media network, and communication activities.
COMMUNICATION PLANNING
Ensure the regional communication plans utilize the most effective and efficient media strategies to generate earned media coverage—traditional and social—reaching new consumers daily across the portfolios you oversee.
In most cases, the communications department will act as the media network lead for all marketing events and activations in the region, particularly those projects with a strong focus on earned outcomes. They will be responsible for coordinating the Media Captains table and creating the comprehensive media plan (PEMO PLAN) for each project in which the communications team serves as the "Media Captain." This plan must be approved by the communications and programming team in Santa Monica. The Senior Manager of Communications will oversee certain portfolios within the region and serve as the main point of contact for all projects in their portfolio related to media.
Have an in-depth understanding of local consumer media consumption habits and the corresponding media market. Use this knowledge to develop highly efficient and effective comprehensive plans for the region's marketing activities.
Establish a robust network of editors, journalists, freelance writers, social media producers, and photographers to effectively bring content to life.
ALWAYS ON ACTIVITY
The Communication team collaborates with the field marketing and regional marketing teams to identify and develop ideas that have strong media potential. Once these ideas are identified, the regional team coordinates with Santa Monica experts to transform them into fully developed projects or media products that can be integrated into the BP, A Limitless Pitch, or the MNLT monthly rolling project fund.
The Communications team is also tasked with managing ongoing activities such as athlete stories and year-long national campaigns. They work closely with media relations to select relevant content from the region that should be presented to major national media outlets, both traditional and social.
For the always-on activities related to FMEDL earned content for athletes, FORBS, and collegiate initiatives, we explore ways to consistently engage consumers through earned social outreach. This effort is coordinated with other departments, including production, creator marketing, and sports marketing, to maintain daily consumer engagement.
CAMPAIGN EXECUTION
Define objectives, goals, messages, and tactics for each project. Whether you are the Media Captain or the communications lead, this will be your ongoing responsibility.
Identify the appropriate media amplification channels for each project or campaign.
Serve as the Red Bull Media Liaison in the region, identifying stories and media opportunities that best resonate with your consumers, whether they originate from your project or across the WORB (World of Red Bull).
Measure media outcomes through a mini Post-Implementation Review (PIR) or the full PIR, in consultation with Santa Monica functional leads. Share insights on what worked, what didn't, and lessons learned across the Media Network and marketing.
Keep SAMO informed of opportunities that could be elevated nationally or globally.
FIELD OVERSIGHT
The communications team serves as the main contact for any media inquiries that your region's field team might have. Your role will involve assisting the field by providing access to a list of agencies, videographers, photographers, and media production companies that can help them with small media executions. Coaching and guiding the field team will be an essential part of your responsibilities.
