Redwood Credit Union is looking for a Financial Assistance Officer I, who will assist with preserving the assets and financial stability of RCU by mitigating consumer loan losses to resolve delinquency issues, handling related recovery and collections activities, and minimizing loss severity while operating within defined collections policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Loan File Management
•Coordinate the review and work of delinquent accounts to determine appropriate collection actions.
•Proactively solicit delinquent Members, either through calls or letters, to determine the collectability and/or cash flow potential of the Member.
•Negotiate high risk, delinquent or at-risk loans adhering to stated timelines and regulatory requirements through a web-based application.
•Perform timely follow up on missed payment arrangements and other borrower commitments.
•Analyze the extent of the potential loss created by the troubled loan, identify the problems, and provide meaningful input into the plan for resolution.
•Provide high quality Member service via all communication channels.
•Take ownership of Member service escalation with a high level of critical thinking to make sound, timely decisions that match the Member with the right solution.
•Assist underwriters in assessing workouts for delinquent loans.
•Review loan files for accuracy and completeness so that all possible loans can be approved as expeditiously as possible to Members.
•Consult with Members on at least a weekly basis regarding the status of their loan.
•Review cross sell opportunities and offer those that will benefit each individual Member.
•Prepare closing document order forms and ensure loan files are closed according to RCU standards.
•Assist with payment deferment review, processing and Member follow up.
•Assist with mitigating losses by supporting other internal department line of businesses, as needed.
•Recognize and propose changes in the workflows and processes to maintain maximum efficiency and Member service.
Member/Branch Education and Support
•Counsel Members on loan requirements and matters affecting the granting of loans.
•Discuss loan options and programs that will benefit each Member.
•Recommend action steps to Members that help them qualify for a loan.
•Assist with training staff on fundamentals of lending and the requirements to obtain a loan from RCU.
Special Projects
•Complete special projects as assigned.
•Research and evaluate products and services and recommend those that may be beneficial to RCU and its Members.
•Develop new vendor/partner relationships that will mutually benefit RCU and its Members.
•Discuss loan products and services at special events.
Non-Essential Functions
•Examine loan files prior to auditing to ensure accuracy and compliance.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate has a combination of education and experience equivalent to high school diploma, with a minimum of three years of experience in the lending industry or related field, including at least one year of experience as a loan officer.
Compensation: Base starting range: $29.00 to $38.00 per hour commensurate with experience.
Our base salary starting range is based on scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal peer equity.
