The GEICO Marketing Social Team is looking for a Social Media Copywriter to create content, manage and maintain GEICO’s brand voice on social media, and drive engagement of one of the nation’s most recognized and beloved brands. The Social Media copywriter will be instrumental in translating the power and relevance of the GEICO brand onto social media platforms.
We are looking for a candidate with exceptional writing and technical skills to write media copy on social platforms. The social media copywriter’s responsibilities include concepting social media content in line with strategic audience and brand direction. You will constantly update relevant social media pages, create work that is on-strategy and targeted to the right audiences, and create rapid response content to leverage cultural trends.
You will be partnering with the Social Designer and Community Manager to build content against our social media calendar and build to fulfil brand and performance objectives on social. You take an always-on, active approach to exposure, engagement and research on emerging platforms to lead the GEICO brand on social.
This role reports into the Social Content Strategist.

QUALIFICATIONS
• 2+ years copywriting experience as a Social Media Copywriter; Client or Agency side
• Strong ability to tailor communication natively across multiple social platforms (Meta/TikTok/Snapchat /Pinterest/etc.)
• Ability to take strategic messaging and RTBs (reason to believe / reason to buy) to create effective copy
• Ability to create innovative content, supported by relevant images and videos
• Strong storytelling capabilities to meet our community interests and ability to write concise and clear content for shorter formats
• Experience in writing social copy to various audience segments on various social platforms
• Familiarity with organic creative content and paid advertisement strategies
• The ability to adapt to new and emerging platforms
• Comfort in collaboration and working in an integrated environment
• Both proactive and reactive thinking to anticipate and capitalize on content opportunities
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for generating attention-grabbing ideas for social content that drive business and brand objectives
• Ideates against both the social playbook and rapid response trends to capitalize on cultural moments
• Translate business strategies into engaging creative content
• Writing, editing, and publishing engaging posts for social media networks Meta, TikTok, Snapchat, Pinterest, etc. from both the GEICO and Gecko handles.
• Maintaining/updating channel copy/descriptions as needed
• Optimizing social media content (language, message, tone) based on the behavior of our target audience
• Collaborates with counterparts in brand and creative team to ensure GEICO voice is consistent across platforms and campaigns are extended to social media where appropriate.
• Collaborate with creative partner agencies to enhance campaign initiatives and develop extended content
• Iterate copy based on performance data and research sentiment
• Partner with Social media designer to create complimentary image and copy content
• Create original concepts for marketing campaigns, working individually and as a part of a creative team
• Participate in creative work-sessions and brainstorms
• Partners with Art + Design + Strategy to build creative executions / assets
• Works closely with the Creative Project Manager to ensure projects stay on track and are delivered on time, with excellence
• Partners with the Community Engagement Specialist to create content that maintains and adheres to the GEICO brand safety guidelines and policies in all social media interactions

Annual Salary
$64,575.00 – $101,475.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
