About the position

The Merchandiser Trainee position at Coca-Cola Bottling Company UNITED, Inc. is designed for individuals looking to start their career in merchandising within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role involves a variety of responsibilities centered around maintaining product displays and inventory in large store settings. As a trainee, you will be expected to build displays, replenish inventory on customer shelves, racks, and cold equipment, ensuring that all products are presented in an appealing and organized manner. Your daily tasks will include the proper care of equipment and company/customer assets, rotating and replenishing products in customer outlets, and maintaining product integrity across all accounts. This means ensuring that products are neatly stacked, condensed, and that backstock is rotated according to company standards. You will also be responsible for organizing and collecting any breakage or out-of-date products, as well as providing feedback to leadership regarding competitive threats and business opportunities. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with the Sales Supervisor and Delivery Driver to execute the company’s vision of success. Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with customers is essential, as is providing superior customer service. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work with various functional team members to achieve common goals.

Responsibilities
• Build displays and replenish inventory on customer shelves, racks, and cold equipment.

• Ensure proper care of equipment and company/customer assets daily.

• Rotate and replenish products in customer outlets, including displays and racks.

• Maintain product integrity in every account, ensuring neat stacking and cleanliness.

• Organize and collect any breakage or out-of-date products, including empty shells and pallets.

• Provide feedback and recommendations to leadership on competitive threats and business opportunities.

• Work in partnership with the Sales Supervisor and Delivery Driver to execute the picture of success.

• Establish and maintain positive relationships with all customers and provide superior customer service.

Requirements
• Minimum age of 18 years old.
,
• Valid driver’s license required and obligation to maintain compliance with UNITED fleet policy.
,
• Reliable vehicle required.
,
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by position and compliance with UNITED safety policies.
,
• Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the job.

• Ability to read, write and speak English.
,
• Ability to maintain a neat professional appearance within Company guidelines.

• Ability to maintain safety and security of Company assets.

• Ability to utilize all Company provided resources and technology.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 3 to 6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to respond and resolve customer issues.

• Ability to self-motivate and perform job duties with minimal supervision.

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

• Ability to write simple correspondence.

• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
