Job Summary
IU High School Online (IUHS) is seeking dedicated and experienced educators with an Indiana teaching license to teach asynchronous online high school courses. Instructors play a critical role in supporting student success by providing timely feedback, responding to student inquiries, and maintaining high standards of academic excellence in alignment with IUHS pedagogy.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
• Teaches asynchronous online courses, ensuring adherence to IUHS curriculum and instructional pedagogy and best practices.
• Provides timely, constructive, and personalized feedback on all student submissions, highlighting strengths, areas for improvement, and constructive guidance for continued learning.
• Adapts instructional approaches to accommodate a variety of learning needs and provide appropriate support for student course completion and success.
• Responds promptly to each request, question, or concern made by or on behalf of a student, ensuring a high level of support.
• Schedules times of availability that are reasonably convenient for students and/or their parents and work with each student or parent to try to accommodate their requests.
• Offers guidance and resources to promote student course completion and success in an online learning environment.
• Adheres to all IUHS, UE (Undergraduate Education), and University policies and procedures.
• Responds promptly to IUHS and UE correspondence, including administrative requests and communications.
• Maintains accurate records of student progress and participation in compliance with IUHS reporting standards.
• Engages in monthly faculty meetings to stay informed on policies, instructional updates, and best practice strategies.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in the subject area or a related field
Preferred
• Master’s degree
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATES
Required
• Valid Indiana teaching license
SKILLS
Required
• Experience in online or asynchronous education and a passion for student-centered learning
• Strong written communication skills for providing detailed, constructive, and supportive student feedback
• Ability to build meaningful connections with students in a virtual learning environment

IU High School Online (IUHS) maintains a teacher pool of highly qualified educators who are passionate about student success and online learning. Please note that IUHS is an asynchronous online high school, and instructional positions become available throughout the calendar year. Submitting an application for this position adds you to the pool of applicants to be called upon when an instructional need arises. Successful candidates will be invited to complete IUHS onboarding and training to ensure familiarity with our instructional pedagogy, policies, and best practices for engaging students in an asynchronous format. Once onboarding is complete, instructors will be assigned courses based on availability and subject area expertise.
Work Location
This position is eligible for remote work, subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
Work Hours
Approximately 8 Hours per week
