Purchasing agent will be responsible for researching and comparing suppliers, goods and services. Then, they select the most suitable ones in terms of reliability, product quality and cost-efficiency to ensure we receive all goods necessary for operations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Researching and comparing suppliers, goods, and services.
• Selecting the most suitable suppliers in terms of reliability, product quality, and cost-efficiency.
• Monitoring inventory levels and determining purchase needs.
• Requesting cost proposals and negotiating contracts and prices.
• Preparing and processing purchase orders.
• Maintaining records of all transactions, purchase orders, receipts, and payments.
• Scheduling and verifying purchase deliveries.
• Building and maintaining positive, long-term supplier relations.
• Collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand and react to dynamic customer needs.
• Work with receiving and finance to resolve issues and ensure accuracy.
• Assist in facilitating monthly and year-end inventory counts.
• Challenge spends and source alternative vendors to help mitigate rising costs.
Requirements:
• Previous experience as a purchasing agent or in a similar position.
• Proficiency in CRM and inventory management software programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong organization and documentation skills.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
• Understanding of min – max inventory programs.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and time management.
Education
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Degree in business administration, procurement, or a related field preferred.
