Manager, Software Engineering - Migrations

Job Title: Manager, Software Engineering, Migrations
Location: Reno, NV

As the Manager of Software Engineering, Migrations at Ridgeline, you will lead a team of skilled engineers responsible for building custom tooling to power complex data migrations as part of enterprise-level software implementations. You’ll play a pivotal role in driving both product innovation and team performance, while directly contributing to the codebase and ensuring technical excellence across all phases of development. Your leadership will influence how we design scalable, cloud-native services using cutting-edge technologies—including AI tools like Cursor and ChatGPT—to maximize efficiency and reduce friction in customer onboarding. This is a hands-on management role where strategy meets execution, and where your impact will be directly felt across Ridgeline’s platform and customer success.

What will you do?

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers building custom tooling for seamless enterprise data migrations
  • Contribute business and product insight to architecture and implementation discussions
  • Participate in every stage of the software lifecycle, from gathering requirements and planning to code implementation and delivery
  • Regularly write and review code to ensure high-quality development and knowledge sharing
  • Coach engineers to reach their full potential through goal setting, feedback, and career development support
  • Conduct regular performance check-ins that align individual growth with broader business objectives
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product and design to deliver high-impact features
  • Champion scalable system design using modern frameworks and AWS back-end services
  • Foster a culture of creativity, transparency, and ownership within your team
  • Cultivate a diverse, inclusive team environment that values feedback and continuous learning
  • Ensure close relationships in a multi-location organization, connecting our product and engineering teams.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years in a hands-on software engineering management or similar leadership role
  • Experience designing and building cloud-native tools and services
  • Deep understanding of software design patterns, data structures, and distributed systems
  • Proven ability to lead in fast-paced, agile environments with evolving requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with stakeholders at all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, not just authority
  • Experience managing data across microservices
  • Strong coaching mindset and commitment to team development
  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or related field
  • Passion for problem-solving and collaboration
  • A strong desire to build meaningful products—and have fun while doing it

Bonus:

    • Experience in the FinTech or investment management industry
    • Familiarity with large-scale data migration strategies and tooling
    • Prior contributions to open-source projects or community knowledge-sharing
