Associate Merchandiser

What's the Short Version?

An Associate Merchandiser is responsible for supporting the apparel product creation process for assigned private label brand(s) at SanMar. The focus of the role is to help create compelling assortments and assist with the design of innovative products that meet the needs of the target consumer. They build a knowledge of the market to justify recommendations and support product ideas and positioning.

 

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Assist and support the Merchandising team in maintaining seasonal line plan components and/or projects.
  • Help resolve process and merchandising issues for the team that arise throughout the season and recommend ways to continually improve process efficiencies.
  • Manage a limited brand and/or category under the direction of a Sr. Merchandiser.
  • Research and compile documentation on competitor offerings, market research, and consumer trends for assigned merchandising categories as directed by Sr. Merchandiser.
  • Maintain the assortment planning, line plan and pricing documentation for a product line - including silhouette/style/color plan, sizing structure, flow plan, and pricing recommendations.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of sales history and suggests initial forecast demand for potential new products.
  • Act as a key merchandising contact to answer questions and facilitate information flow throughout the team and with cross-functional teams for assigned brand/categories.
  • Assist in the preparation, coordination, proofing, and execution of sales tools and product presentations (e.g., catalogs, photo samples, sample preparation, meeting set-up, etc.); act as a brand steward for assigned brands.
  • Responsible for assembling and distributing various product documentation per the calendar and assigned deadlines, including ETA lists, companion list, style roadmaps, web spec sheet info, and product feedback recaps.
  • Proactively prepare for team product reviews and presentations (e.g., catalogs, photo samples, sample preparation, meeting set-up, etc.)
  • Maintain and document color swatches and fabric files for reference.
  • Assist in creating, assembling and distributing various product documentation per the calendar and assigned deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

 

What Are We Looking For?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Merchandising or related field or equivalent experience
  • 0-1 years of relevant experience in apparel product related roles.
  • Strong business orientation, analytical aptitude, retail math and computer skills.
  • Communicate in verbal and written form to effectively and clearly articulate goals and objectives
  • Seek information proactively and work cooperatively in a diverse group
  • Lead and influence others and champion projects using demonstrated creativity and ingenuity
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Adobe Illustrator experience a plus

 

What's Our Offer?

Salary Range: You`ll earn between $32.56 - $38.46 on an hourly basis, depending on experience.

 

Bonus: You`ll be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to 10% of base salary.

 

Paid Time Off: You`ll accrue paid time off on a weekly basis based on hours worked up to 112 hours per year to start. Employees also receive 8 paid holidays and 1 paid family day off.

What Should You Expect?

Hybrid: SanMar's Eastpointe office is located in Issaquah, WA in the Seattle metropolitan area. Employees are required to work in our offices Tuesday through Thursday each week and additional days may be added based on business needs. Our standard working hours are 8:00-5:00 PST. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work environment is moderately quiet. Ability to work on computer for multiple hours with frequent interruptions. Quarterly travel may be required.
