Position Overview: As a Configuration Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing all aspects of configuration control for our autonomous surface vessels. You will ensure that engineering designs, software, and systems meet the required standards and specifications, and that changes are properly controlled and documented. Your work will directly support the development of cutting-edge products that are integral to national defense.
Responsibilities - Execute and implement change notices, ensuring the checklist of change implementation activities is fully completed. This includes validating changes to Engineering and Manufacturing Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Leverage and create automation tools to improve the speed, accuracy, and efficiency of configuration management activities.
- Generate, populate, and submit change requests, including managing the compilation and synthesis of impact analyses.
- Ensure all engineering change requests are documented, routed, reviewed, approved, and fully executed in a timely manner.
- Manage engineering routings, cost and sourcing data, perform periodic audits of as-built records to inform product definition data in Arena.
- Analyze product baselines for compliance with industry and organizational standards.
- Provide insights into the integrity and efficacy of the change process, such as calculating the cost of change and tracking the speed and rate of rework.
- Coordinate with stakeholder teams (Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, etc.) to conduct thorough impact assessments and identify risks and implications of proposed changes, developing mitigation strategies as needed.
- Support configuration management reviews and audits, including FCA/PCA, and provide direction before, during, and after these events to prevent or resolve issues.
- Provide guidance and support to engineering teams in configuring Engineering, Manufacturing, and Service Bills of Materials including 150% BOMs.
- Drive continuous improvement of change management workflows and tools.
- Develop and implement training programs for engineering teams to ensure understanding and compliance with change management processes and tools.
Qualifications- 3+ years of direct product configuration management experience working in a fast-paced environment, ideally in the aerospace, defense or naval industry.
- Expertise in configuration management principles and practices.
- Expertise in product lifecycle management (PLM) and/or data management toolsets for multiple projects.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex quantitative data into clear decision statements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Nuclear, Manufacturing, etc.) is a plus.
- Experience with PLM tools (Arena and Teamcenter) and a working proficiency of CAD software (Solidworks or NX).
- Experience in data management using SQL, APIs, Python, etc. Certification in CM2 or equivalent configuration management certification.
