About Us:
Shelter House was established in 1981 as a grassroots responder to the homelessness crisis in Fairfax County. Since the organization’s inception, we have adapted and grown to meet community needs, all while working in partnership with government and private partners and community members. Today, Shelter House is a successful and reputable organization of over 100 employees committed to preventing and ending homelessness and domestic violence. About the Role:
The Family Rapid Re-Housing Case Manager (RRH-CM) will provide shelter case management and housing location services for single and family households in Loudoun County who are experiencing homelessness, seeking housing, and referred for Rapid Re-Housing services. The RRH CM will also provide community- based Case Management services for those clients recently housed. The Case Manager will deliver services that are low-barrier, housing-focused, and align with the Housing First model, in addition to being trauma- informed. The Case Manager will welcome all clients with dignity and respect and will work to help support each client in achieving their goals and locating and maintaining housing. Day to day responsibilities includes conducting family housing assessments upon receipt of a referral, assisting clients in accessing resources and benefits, conducting goal setting, budgeting, planning activities with clients, assisting clients in locating housing, and empowering clients’ progress not only in gaining housing but sustaining it. Once housing is secured, the Case Manager will work to link households with services and resources to help them stabilize in their new housing and neighborhood. This follow up case management often includes assisting households with budgeting, learning how to be a successful tenant, increasing income, and linkages to other service providers in the community. The work conducted by this position is fast paced and client relationships are often time limited. The Case Manager must be comfortable forming relationships with landlords and other community partners to ensure clients are able to secure housing as their top priority.
