The Human Resources & Immigration Specialist is a key member of the Spear Human Resources team, supporting Spear team members and candidates in their immigration sponsorship needs and administrative support to the Spear Headquarters office and team. Reporting directly to the VP, HR, this role will serve as subject matter expert on immigration matters and liaison with the company’s immigration attorney, to support the timely administration of immigration proceedings across the organization. The HR & Immigration Specialist will also support the Spear Headquarters team in all general office administration and other HR projects.




$65,000 - $70,000 a year
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
As HR & Immigration Specialist, you will spend a majority of your time focused on supporting our international candidates and their sponsorship needs such as H1B Lottery registration and filings, visa transfers & renewals, TN Visa Applications, Permanent Resident sponsorship and provide guidance to F1 Students on CPT and/or OPT work authorizations.
-          Provide guidance and consultative support to international candidates, team members and hiring managers on matters including visa adjustments, maintaining status, authorized travel, employment questions, transfers, changes of status, travel, and re-entry into the country.
-          Partner with hiring managers and immigration attorneys to ensure timely administration of all immigration proceedings and communicate impact on work eligibility.
-          Serves as a liaison between HR, immigration attorneys and hiring managers on immigration-related matters.
-          Provides guidance and consultative support to Talent Acquistion Team and hiring managers on the preparation, processing, and maintenance of documents in support of immigration sponsorship requests for F1 Student Visas, H-1B, TN and Permanent Residence applications.
-          Partners with HR Team on correction completion of Form I-9 and provides guidance applicable documents to confirm work authorization.
-          Partners with immigration attorney to ensures proper administration and compliance with relevant USCIS rules and regulations about international candidates.
As HR & Immigration Specialist, you will also perform several administrative duties to support the efficient operation of the Spear Headquarters (HQ) office. This role will operate as the primary contact for the HQ team and building management. Key activities will include:
-          Liaise with building management and facility teams to ensure that office is operating smoothly, ensure a clean and well-organized office, conference rooms and common areas
-          Coordinate all office maintenance/repairs with facility team and building management, including printers, cleaning services, confidential shredder services
-          Ensure all team members have building and office access by assigning office key cards within 24 hours of request
-          Manage conference room calendars and support team members in booking conference space for all internal meetings
-          Provide Notary services for internal legal documents
-          Monitor office supplies and place orders as needed, receive and distribute all packages and mail
-          Other projects as assigned to support HR Team
Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
-          Understanding employment immigration as it relates to F1, TN and H-1B non-immigrant visas, permanent residency sponsorship, and the hiring of foreign nationals in the U.S.
-          Ability to communicate in a cross-cultural environment with sensitivity to the diversity and complexity of international scholar and employee issues and concerns.
-          Detail-oriented with superior multitasking, problem-solving, and communication skills
-          Must have tact and diplomacy; be flexible and professional at all times with sound judgment, discretion, and humor.
-          High comfort level with working autonomously.
-          Overall, strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office software.

Minimum Qualifications  

-          Bachelor’s Degree preferred

-          1-2 years of experience working with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regulations governing non-immigrant students and/or foreign workers, preferred

-          Notary Public certification
