General Manager (Full Time, Onsite)
Location: St. George Island, Florida
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm with flexibility for occasional evening/weekend work
Summary of Mandatory Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, real estate, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Three (3)+ years of property or community association management experience
- Proficiency in financial management, contract negotiations, and Microsoft Office
- Valid driver's license and the ability to commute to our office
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug test, and credit check

Who We Are: Nestled on the pristine Gulf of Mexico shoreline, St. George Island Plantation is a gated community celebrated for its stunning natural beauty, award-winning environmental preservation efforts, and a close-knit community of homeowners. Who You Are: St. George Island Plantation Owners Association (SGPOA) is seeking an experienced General Manager to oversee our day-to-day operations, foster exceptional community engagement, and ensure our continued success as a premier gated community. You’ll have the unique opportunity to lead operations in this idyllic setting, while shaping the future of a community that values nature, quality of life, and collaborative leadership. While some of the position specifics can be taught, there are a few non-negotiables we are looking for.

What You'll Be Doing
Lead Operations & Inspire Team Success
- Oversee all functions, including infrastructure planning and upkeep, property maintenance, financial management, and staff supervision.
- Recruit, train, and manage a skilled team dedicated to providing exceptional service to our homeowners.
- Supervise 5-7 direct reports including Director of Security, Facility Manager, Finance Manager, Finance & HR Assistant, and Communications Director.
Foster Community Excellence
- Oversee internal communication for property owners, ensuring transparency and timely resolution of concerns, and external communications, highlighting SGPOA’s values and achievements to bolster the community.
Drive Strategic Oversight
- Manage budgets, negotiate vendor contracts, and work with state and federal agencies to preserve the environment and secure funding for key initiatives.
- Plan, prioritize, and maintain the community’s infrastructure—including roads, boardwalks, airport runways and other critical assets—to ensure long-term functionality and resilience.
Strengthen Emergency Preparedness
- Lead the community through hurricane planning, response, and recovery, ensuring safety and clear communication throughout.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, real estate, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of property or community association management experience
- Familiarity with Florida coastal property regulations is a plus
- Strong leadership, communication, and customer service abilities
- Proficiency in financial management, contract negotiations, and Microsoft Office
- Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) or equivalent certification is a plus
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to commute to our office Monday - Friday and occasional weekends
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug test, and credit check
- A desire to relocate to the beautiful "Forgotten Coast" of Florida
