Job Title: General Manager
Location: San Antonio, TX 78227
Compensation: $70-80,000 base salary + bonus potential

As the General Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations, leading a dedicated team, and creating an environment that drives membership growth and maximizes member satisfaction. You’ll help to achieve financial goals while ensuring we maintain a positive, energetic, and welcoming atmosphere for our members and staff.
What you’ll do:
Administration/Organization:
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of all standard operating procedures and policies that pertain to the club.
- Communicate and implement club policies and procedures to employees.
- Encourage staff to work as a team and be productive.
- Illustrate an ability to make decisions.
- Recruit and hire the highest possible caliber of staff.
Sales + Revenue Management
- Demonstrate the ability to lead, motivate, and manage team.
- Achieve desired sales goals.
- Achieve desired revenue goals thru the leadership and motivation of employees.
- Implement and support company programs and promotion to help generate new sales leads for optimum new membership growth.
- Ensure team maintains proper tracking forms.
- Ensure promotions are effectively communicated to the team and other appropriate staff.
- Ensure ongoing prospecting and generation of new prospective members.
- Review sales-related written communication such as proposals, letters, and promotional pieces for effectiveness, spelling, accuracy, and distribution.
- Ensure staff has a high level of knowledge about programs, facilities, and equipment.
- Emphasize importance of staff involvement in the community and neighborhood business.
Personal Training/Revenue Management:
- Demonstrate ability to lead, motivate and manage personal training department.
- Achieve desired personal training revenue and session production goals.
- Achieve desired revenue and production results thru the leadership and motivation of employees.
- Implement and support company programs and promotion to help generate new PT client acquisition for optimum member base penetration.
- Facilitate integration of Personal Training products into point of sale presentations to maximize the number of orientation sessions scheduled and packages sold.
- Ensure Personal Training team follows proper procedures in session redemption.
- Oversee PT manager in ensuring all components of departmental objectives are satisfied.
Operations:
- Coordinate and work within club support functions of Fitness, Sales and Marketing, Accounting, and Information Technology.
- Support personnel-related problems or difficulties by following club procedure and documentation.
- Resolve member complaints in an expeditious and tactful manner following club procedure and documentation.
- Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere that enhances the quality of service and care offered to the members.
- Ensure the club meets standards for cleanliness, maintenance, safety, and security.
- Conduct weekly detailed inspection of the club with the Maintenance Manager utilizing cleaning checklist and forward information to appropriate staff.
- Ensure visible maintenance items are repaired promptly, proper signage is posted, and ‘out of service’ equipment removed from the floor when appropriate.
- Reinforce to staff that cleanliness is everyone’s responsibility, not just the maintenance staffs’.
- Ensure proper inventory of maintenance parts.
- Track completion of opening/closing checklists, stage management, repair & maintenance log, locker log, and cleaning checklist.
- Assist in the processing/submission and approval of payroll.
Financial:
- Exhibit an understanding of budgets and income statements.
- Establish controls of expenses and purchasing of club supplies.
- Display an ability to keep expenses at or below budget.
- Demonstrate an ability to articulate variances in revenue/sales/expenses versus budget.
Leadership/Motivation:
- Serve as a role model for employees.
- Communicate effectively by holding weekly and individual meeting with all key club personnel.
- Provide an inspirational environment that welcomes honest feedback from employees and takes action to ensure a quality working environment.
- Oversee, support, direct, and develop department heads.
Profit Centers:
- Illustrate an ability to drive profit center revenue such as personal training, retail, etc.
- Monitor flagged check-in’s to increase revenue and collections.
- Demonstrate an ability to increase revenue per member.
Meetings:
- Monthly or Weekly Department Meetings
- Employee Training Meetings
- Daily “One Minute Meetings” with club staff
- Daily Personal Training Manager Meeting
- Weekly Club Management Meeting
- Annual Performance Evaluations
Accountabilities:
- Implement and support company programs and promotion to help generate new sales leads for optimum new membership growth.
- Oversees expense goals by managing payroll and general/administrative expenses.
- Ensure clubs meet standards for cleanliness, maintenance, safety, security and physical plant operations.
- Keep current in knowledge of key competitors.
- Conduct frequent walk-thrus.

- Successful management of all financial budgetary goals.
- Ensure standards of cleanliness and customer service excellence.
- Demonstrate professionalism by leading by example.
- Membership retention.
- Timely completion of assigned tasks and projects.

Qualifications
- 4-year college degree preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of management experience, preferably in a fitness-related environment.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification required
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
