Detrios is a software company specializing in access control solutions and services

In 2016, after almost 15 years developing software solutions at a leading physical access control system manufacturer, we formed Detrios to build our vision of a company that could work with customers to design innovative software integrations across a wide range of access control platforms and create an off-the-shelf software product to solve the unique access control challenges in higher education. Namely, how to effectively and efficiently manage room and building unlock schedules, temporary access to shared spaces, and access for housing assignments to create a safer, more secure campus.

We knew many higher education campuses were trying to manage unlock schedules manually and struggling with daily or weekly event reports, manual schedule programming, or having an on-call administrator to program door schedules for last-minute events (or calling Campus Safety/Police to on-demand unlock a space). We also found that many campuses had decided that the alternate approach, unlocking doors 7am-10pm every day, was the only way to allow convenient access during “typical event times”. Both of these approaches have significant drawbacks, and nobody was happy with their approach – it was the perfect example of “doing the best we can with what we have”.

The problem wasn’t that colleges and universities didn’t want to secure spaces on campus based on actual event schedules. The problem was that there was no existing solution on the market that could integrate their event management system with their card access system.

The problem was that DAX didn’t exist yet.

So, what did we do? We built partnerships with the leading event and room scheduling, access control, and housing management platforms, and we created DAX. in just a few short years, we have become the trusted partner of over 30 higher education institutions around the country, with DAX managing hundreds of thousands of events annually

Your Impact

As a Junior Software Engineer at Detrios, your day-to-day will include a range of responsibilities  that are designed to help Detrios deliver the best products and customer experience we can while giving you ample opportunity to learn and grow as a software engineer.

➤Design and develop automated unit, regression and integration tests

➤Develop and test backend services in a suite of products deployed in the cloud and on-premise

➤Design and implement new features as we grow our core solution and products

➤Work with end users to remotely deploy DAX as well as Detrios custom-developed software integrations on end user on-premise systems

➤Handle end user software support issues. Support includes customer interaction as well as back-end investigation to identify issues and propose and implement code changes, as appropriate

The Winning Formula 

➤2+ years of experience C# development

➤Experience with OOP concepts

➤Experience developing solutions that utilize external APIs is a plus

➤Proficiency in SQL, Microsoft SQL Server experience preferred

➤Curious and eager to learn new things and use new tools

➤Strong ability to communicate with end users and partners

➤Experience in a customer-facing role is a plus (IT, retail, anything!)

➤Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

➤Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize work and be well organized
