Chief Psychiatrist- California

Talkiatry is seeking an addition to our psychiatry leadership team as we grow our footprint across the US into California and neighboring markets.

Increasing access to high quality psychiatric care is why Talkiatry exists.  We knew that to accomplish our mission we needed to begin by building the ideal practice for psychiatrists. Founded in April 2020, Talkiatry has been built from the ground up by psychiatrists. We have rapidly grown to a team of over 400 clinicians mostly comprised of board-certified Psychiatrists hailing from the top training programs across the country.

As Chief Psychiatrist, you will provide clinical leadership and support hiring, clinician engagement, mentorship, and supervise care delivery of a team of Psychiatrists. This dynamic role combines administrative and leadership duties with clinical care. The Chief Psychiatrist is responsible for preserving the practice flexibility our psychiatrists value while supporting organizational norms, practice standards, and efficiency. The ideal candidate has experience coaching psychiatrists to deliver high-quality care, championing the organization’s goals and strategies, developing policies, and possesses a strong ability to track, analyze, and manage performance metrics to drive success.  You are intellectually curious and driven to improve systems for the benefit of patients.

  • Actively mentor your direct reports, including advising in matters pertaining to delivering supportive therapy during patient appointments, physician utilization, schedule optimization, understanding incentive compensation earnings, and all clinical policies.
  • Conduct effective performance management when needed.
  • Empower clinical focus to drive better patient outcomes and higher clinician career satisfaction based on our unique clinical informatics that provide insight into practice patterns you can use to improve care.
  • Proactively study quality data and sponsor quality initiatives to ensure Talkiatry is delivering the highest standard of care.
  • Continuously adapt your leadership responsibilities in an evolving, fast-paced, and growing medical practice.

  • Possesses unquestionable professional integrity and a candid, honest style which evokes credibility and inspires confidence.
  • Is willing to articulate concerns and is comfortable challenging the prevailing point of view.
  • Is physically located in the state of California and is well versed and knowledgeable on state specific regulations.
  • Deeply connected within the California psychiatric community, leveraging those relationships to attract top psychiatrists to our organization and foster valuable partnerships across the state and the West Coast.

Talkiatry is led clinically by Dr. Georgia Gaveras, a board-certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist with an additional board-certification in addiction medicine.

At Talkiatry, that means our psychiatrists are in control of their practice. Our support staff focuses on removing administrative duties, enabling you to spend more of your time on patient care.  It also means providing flexibility in where and when you practice medicine. Our psychiatrists also enjoy control over their hours and schedule.

We provide in-network, outpatient treatment for children and adults with depressive, anxiety, attention, and other disorders. Talkiatry does not provide intensive outpatient or partial hospitalization programs. We believe that solving the accessibility issues in mental health care begins with taking care of our doctors. We provide solutions to the challenges that psychiatrists are facing - from a lack of front and back-office infrastructure and support in private practice settings to being overworked and underpaid by hospitals, clinics, and other institutions. Talkiatry aims to bridge the current gap in outpatient psychiatry by providing high quality, respected medical care in a modern setting with modern tools.

Through proprietary technology developed by psychiatrists for psychiatrists, we empower you to treat the conditions and population you enjoy, building a practice you find both satisfying and intellectually challenging.

Talkiatry believes that psychiatric care should be affordable for patients and accepts all major insurance.  As an integrated practice, we have a large in-house billing and patient care coordinator team that handles billing and administrative issues for our clinical staff.

Talkiatry participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. only after a job offer is accepted and Form I-9 is completed. For more information on E-Verify, please visit the following: EVerify Participation & IER Right to Work.

At Talkiatry, we are an equal opportunity employer committed to a diverse, inclusive and equitable workplace and candidate experience.  We strive to create an environment where everyone has a sense of belonging and purpose, and where we learn from the unique experiences of those around us.

We encourage all qualified candidates to apply regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital or family status, disability, gender, gender identity or expression, pregnancy or caregiver status, veteran status, or any other legally protected status.
