Director of Supply Chain

The Director of Supply Chain is a highly-motivated, customer-centric leader, who is responsible for the organization's overall supply chain operations to include: warehouse, shipping & receiving, purchasing and inventory of raw materials, selection of vendors, and distribution of finished goods. This position is also responsible for evaluating past performance data to forecast needs, inventory planning, and production scheduling.

The Director of Supply Chain will be responsible for establishing, owning, driving, and achieving all relevant key KPI/metric performance that supports the overall supply chain activities. As a member of the site Senior Leadership team as well as a member of the corporate group supply chain team, this individual is expected to provide top level leadership within the organization on both a tactical and strategic level.

Reports to General Manager.

Main Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement supply chain strategies that align with the company's goals and enhance operational efficiency. Lead initiatives to optimize inventory management, procurement, logistics, and supplier relationships.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee day-to-day supply chain operations, ensuring timely delivery of materials and components while maintaining high standards of quality and cost control. Implement best practices and process improvements to streamline operations.
  • Supplier Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors. Negotiate contracts, manage supplier performance, and ensure adherence to quality and delivery standards.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing supply chain team. Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment. Set clear objectives and performance metrics for team members.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data analytics and performance metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare regular reports for senior management.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including engineering, production, and finance, to ensure alignment and coordination across the organization. Address and resolve any supply chain-related issues that impact operational performance.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies. Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain operations, including disruptions and supply shortages.

  • Supplier Reliability: Ensuring that suppliers can meet increasing demands for both quality and quantity, while maintaining resilience against disruptions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Navigating complex aerospace regulations and standards (e.g., FAA, EASA) to ensure all components meet safety and quality requirements.
  • Cost Management: Balancing cost control with the need for investment in new technologies and processes to maintain competitiveness.
  • Talent Acquisition and Retention: Attracting and retaining skilled professionals in a competitive job market, especially in specialized fields like aerospace engineering and logistics.
  • Global Sourcing Risks: Managing risks associated with global supply chains, including geopolitical tensions, trade regulations, and natural disasters.
  • Data Management and Analytics: Effectively managing large volumes of data to derive actionable insights and improve decision-making processes.
  • Collaboration Across Functions: Ensuring seamless communication and collaboration between supply chain, engineering, production, and sales teams to align strategies and goals.
  • Change Management: Leading organizational change initiatives to improve processes while maintaining team morale and engagement.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identifying potential risks in the supply chain and developing contingency plans to minimize disruptions.
  • Performance Measurement: Establishing metrics to evaluate supply chain performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA or Master’s) is preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in supply chain management, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role within the aerospace or MRO industry.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles, practices, and technologies.
    • Proven track record of leading supply chain operations and driving performance improvements.
    • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
    • Proficiency in supply chain management software and tools (e.g., ERP systems).
  • Certifications: Professional certifications such as APICS CPIM, CSCP, or equivalent are highly desirable
