NEWS CENTER Maine (WCSH/WLBZ), the TEGNA-owned NBC television stations in Maine, are seeking a talented Newscast Producer who can write and produce engaging content for our top-rated newscasts. This position is based in the Portland newsroom.
Our Producers must be able to multi-task during the news gathering hours, working with field crews, writing scripts and researching for more details and context. Our ideal candidate can identify engaging content and creatively deliver it to our viewers. We want someone who is calm under deadline pressure while news is breaking, able to communicate clearly to his or her team, and deliver the best most current information with context.
Responsibilities:
• Create unique and innovative, fact-driven newscasts
• Help manage reporter live shots to make them visual and compelling
• Write in an authentic, conversational style
• Write and post on our digital platforms when needed
• Field Produce during major news events
• Calmly manage breaking news
• Skillfully use social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content
• Use creative production techniques, graphics, and viewer pictures/videos, Zoom interviews, etc. to enhance stories
• Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or Executive Producer
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field
• 1-3 years broadcast news producing
• Experience with ENPS preferred
• Knowledge of AXIS Graphics, EDIUS helpful
