They are acquiring and integrating small, profitable companies into group structures that aim for high-multiple exits in the next 3–5 years. As part of their lean, high-performing backend team, you'll help them consolidate financial performance, streamline reporting, and support integration across our portfolio.

Role Summary

Our client is hiring an experienced Intermediate Accountant to support group-level finance operations across multiple UK-based companies. This is not a basic bookkeeping role — you will be responsible for ensuring accurate group-level financial data, supporting month-end consolidations, preparing management reports, assisting with integration of new acquisitions, and liaising with both internal stakeholders and external accountants.

You will be central to our client's backend operations, helping them scale efficiently and make informed decisions through accurate, timely financials.

Key Responsibilities

Group Financial Reporting & Consolidation

• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts across multiple entities.
• Support consolidated P&L and balance sheet roll-ups at group level.
• Assist in standardizing chart of accounts across acquired companies.
• Reconcile intercompany balances and prepare group-level journals.

Acquisition & Integration Support

• Onboard new companies into group reporting systems.
• Support financial due diligence activities (clean-up, data gathering, historicals).
• Track and report post-acquisition performance vs. deal models.

Compliance & Tax Support

• Assist with preparation and filing of VAT returns and UK corporation tax.
• Liaise with external UK accountants to ensure accurate statutory filings.
• Ensure consistent compliance across all group entities.

Finance Operations

• Maintain accurate ledgers: AP, AR, bank reconciliations, journals.
• Support payroll coordination with UK providers.
• Track working capital movements across companies (WIP, AR, AP).

Process Improvement

• Help build scalable financial processes across the group.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities.
• Document SOPs for core finance tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably working with UK-based clients.
• Experience preparing management accounts and financial statements.
• Proficient in Xero (required); knowledge of Dext, Syft, and BrightPay is a plus.
• Solid understanding of UK accounting principles, VAT, and payroll basics.
• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
• High attention to detail, ownership mindset, and the ability to work independently.
• Stable internet connection and suitable remote working setup.
