Pay Range: $122,187 - $171,552 annual compensation

Workdays & Hours: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm; Some evening/weekend work required.

An Assistant City Attorney/DFW Airport Attorney job is available with the City of Fort Worth City Attorney’s Office. We are seeking a senior experienced attorney to be assigned to the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Legal Staff. Position will be sited at DFW Airport and will report to the DFW Airport General Counsel.

This position will be primarily responsible for providing in-house legal counsel relating to a variety of matters including federal and state procurement laws, data privacy laws, open records and open meeting laws and other state and federal regulatory requirements. Responsibilities will include handling sensitive and complex legal matters and rendering advice and opinions to the Airport’s Board of Directors and Airport staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
  • Eight (8) years of increasingly responsible experience in airport, city or related governmental law
  • Possession of a license from the Supreme Court of Texas to practice law
  • Must pass CJIS Fingerprint Background Screening

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with a variety of legal areas and issues encountered in a municipal government including procurement, information technology and cyber security.

The Assistant City Attorney/DFW Airport Attorney job responsibilities include:

  • Provide in-house legal counsel on federal and state contract and procurement laws/regulations to ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Provide advice and guidance on data privacy, technology and cybersecurity issues to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Draft, review, negotiate and advise on a variety of contracts, including material purchase agreements, consulting agreements, service level agreements, licensing agreements, software agreements and others.
  • Identify and assess legal risks and opportunities and provide reasoned, researched advice directly to decision makers.
  • Provide guidance on administrative law issues and open records/open meetings matters.
  • Provide support to the General Counsel on various other legal issues.
  • Perform other legal duties as directed.

Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.  Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position:  Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
