Pay Range: $31.52/hr. - $40.98/hr. | $65,563 - $85,232 annual compensation

A Land Agent job is available with the City of Fort Worth Development Services Contract Management Division. The Development Services Department works with citizens, businesses, developers, and other stakeholders to achieve the City’s vision of becoming the most livable and best managed city in the country.  Our fast-paced work environment and focus on constant improvement keeps us motivated to implement best practices and to provide excellent customer experiences. The Contract Management Section plays a critical role in achieving the City’s vision by administrating developer led infrastructure agreements; generating development ordinance amendments to streamline and expedite the customer experience; and providing recommendations and guidance to our City Council, Boards, Commissions, and community groups. On a monthly basis, Land Agent participates with the processes associated with approximately forty (40) agreement requests.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration, real estate or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in real estate transactions (property acquisition, sales, leasing, property management), title examination, and/or real estate funding.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with negotiating easement contracts.
  • Knowledge of real estate laws and regulations.
  • Licensed Right-of-Way Agent.

The (Job Posting Title) job responsibilities include: 

  • Administer and monitor Easements, Vacations, Encroachment, and other land acquisition documents.
  • Acquires property interests in easements or free simple title for the construction of capital improvement projects through administrative process, negotiation or eminent domain; prepares eminent domain documentation for unsettled property acquisitions for final disposition of the property interest; and prepares and presents formal written approval for Mayor and Council.
  • Inspects property; obtains and reviews appraisals to determine value; conducts negotiations with property owners; prepares recommendations regarding agreement terms; and secures signatures on agreements and deeds.
  • Participates in the development of scope of contracts for due diligence review and lease compliance; reviews and approves contractor work; analyzes reports provided by contractor; recommends and implements resolutions; and ensures recovery of royalty revenues for the City.
  • Negotiates contracts for agreements and permits; recommends and drafts changes to contract documents; and monitors contract implementation.

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises.   

Physical Demand 

Light work- Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
