The City of Fort Worth’s Economic Development Department is seeking a highly skilled Senior Management Analyst to provide comprehensive financial and budgetary support, while collaborating closely with internal departments and external stakeholders. This position plays a key role in maintaining the fiscal integrity of multiple Component Units, Tax Increment Financing (TIF) districts, and the department’s operating budget. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing both historical and forecasted financial data and performing a variety of professional accounting functions, including financial reporting, bank reconciliations, audit preparation, and tax reporting.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, along with a high level of accuracy and detail orientation. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create complex formulas and pivot tables, is essential. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter who works independently, demonstrates initiative, and takes pride in producing high-quality work. The ability to collaborate effectively with the executive team and communicate clearly and concisely, both in writing and orally, is critical to success in this role.  

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Four (4) years of extensive experience in the analysis of processes, general ledger, accounts receivable/payable, accounts reconciliations, grants, audits or related experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Two (2) years of experience with QuickBooks Desktop or related financial systems.
  • Knowledge of government accounting standards, fund accounting principles, and prior experience working in a municipal government setting.
  • Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Public Finance Officer, or Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO).

The Sr Management Analyst job responsibilities include: 

  • Manage administrative and financial functions for four separate legal entity Component Units, including invoice processing, reconciliation, journal entries, compliance oversight, and financial statement preparation for month-end reporting in QuickBooks.
  • Serve as a liaison between the department and key stakeholders such as Financial Management Services (FMS), legal entities, and other City departments.
  • Oversee the development, forecasting, and management of the department's annual operating budget using the Questica Budget System, which includes multiple funding sources.
  • Conduct budget analysis, revenue projections, and expenditure monitoring; prepare spreadsheets, summaries, and charts for internal management presentations, Mayor and Council reviews, and board meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial management policies, including the preparation of monthly and quarterly grant expenditure reports and annual audits.
  • Manage the annual filing of vendor 1099s and debt bond set-up for supported entities.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Physical Demand 

Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
