Pay Range: $89,164 – $115,914

A WIMS/RIO Database Administrator job is available with the City of Fort Worth Water Department’s Management Services Division in its Water IT Section.  The Water Department provides safe drinking water, manages wastewater, and offers reclaimed water services. These services protect public health and the environment. The WIMS/RIO Database Administrator will oversee the implementation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of the Water Information Management System (WIMS) and associated RIO field data collection tool at the City of Fort Worth's water utility. This role will focus on enhancing water quality management operations by automating processes, replacing traditional Excel-based methods, and ensuring seamless data integration for effective decision-making and regulatory compliance.

The WIMS administrator must be detail-oriented, have a strong technical background in water information management systems, understand the parameters and calculations used in water and wastewater treatment processes, and be committed to enhancing water and wastewater treatment plant operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Five (5) years of responsible experience information system technical support work such as operating systems, data base administration, or related fields
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must pass Drug Screen, Physical, Tuberculosis screening

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing water quality systems, preferably with WIMS or similar platforms, and holding a water or wastewater operator license is a plus.
  • Strong technical background in water information management systems, with in-depth knowledge of water/wastewater treatment parameters and calculations.
  • Skilled in implementing, configuring, and maintaining WIMS and RIO data collection tools, improving automation, data integration, and regulatory compliance. Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases is a plus.
  • Expertise in WIMS and RIO or related software with a strong background in water quality management.
  • Understanding of the parameters and calculations used in water and wastewater treatment processes and knowledge of regulatory compliance for water quality data management.
  • Experience with data integration from LIMS and SCADA systems, ability to develop automated reports and analytical tools, and strong T-SQL skills.

The Database Administrator job responsibilities include:

  • System Implementation & Configuration: Lead the deployment and customization of WIMS and RIO to meet organizational requirements, including configuring data entry forms, dashboards, and reports.
  • User Management: Administer user accounts, manage access levels, and train staff on system functionality.
  • Database Administration: Managing and optimizing WIMS/RIO databases, ensuring their security, performance, and integrity.
  • Data Integration: Oversee data integration from various other sources, such as LIMS and SCADA systems, into WIMS.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Develop and maintain automated reporting tools and analytical functions to support water quality management and decision-making.
  • System Maintenance: Ensure system updates, patches, and troubleshooting are performed regularly to maintain system functionality and performance.
  • Compliance Support: Ensure adherence to relevant water quality data management regulations and standards.

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking and repetitive motions.

Physical Demand

Light Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work
