Our partner, a not-for-profit organization serving for-hire drivers across New York State, is seeking a Communications Coordinator to join their team in Long Island City, NY. This position plays a key role in supporting external outreach, communications, and marketing efforts. The role contributes to the organization's public presence, community engagement, and program visibility through content development and event coordination. A hybrid schedule will be available following onboarding and training.
Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications
- Draft and distribute external communications such as newsletters, email campaigns, flyers, promotional materials, and newspaper ads
- Manage and maintain contact lists for external outreach
- Track campaign performance and identify opportunities for improvement
- Develop inclusive messaging to support outreach programs and initiatives
- Maintain records of communications and inquiries received by the communications team
- Assist in tracking the department's annual budget
Social Media & Digital Presence
- Plan and schedule social media content across various platforms
- Develop and manage digital campaigns to raise awareness and engagement
- Create multimedia content including photos, short videos, reels, and stories tailored to a diverse audience
- Monitor website and social media performance and compile analytics reports
- Support website updates and contribute to strategy development for a new website and mobile app
Event Planning & Outreach
- Coordinate and support outreach events such as resource fairs, community gatherings, and partner engagements
- Conduct on-site outreach, gather testimonials, and collect survey data
- Compile and report survey feedback from community and driver engagement activities
- Manage inventory and distribution of branded materials for outreach
- Analyze event outcomes and feedback to optimize future outreach initiatives
- Maintain professional communication with stakeholders and partner organizations
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate on internal company events such as monthly heritage celebrations, staff recognition initiatives, and customer service events
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure accurate and accessible resources for those serving member and driver communities
- Provide support to executive leadership on special projects as assigned
Professional Development
- Engage in ongoing learning of tools and platforms used by the communications team
- Participate in external training opportunities to further develop communication and outreach skills
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field, or 2–4 years of experience in a similar role
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences
- Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused approach
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple deadlines
- Proficient in tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Photoshop, Canva, Doodly, Asana, and Sigma
- Experience with digital platforms like Hootsuite, Constant Contact, Linktr.ee, and Survey Monkey
- Ability to navigate databases and manage communications tracking
- Willingness to travel within the New York City metro area for outreach and events
- Capable of working independently, taking initiative, and escalating issues when needed
- Ability to maintain collaborative and professional relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders
