Graduate Engineer, Transportation - Highway Design

We are seeking a Graduate Engineer, Transportation - Highway (2 - 5 Years Experience) to join our growing team! T


TKDA’s experienced Highway team delivers innovative solutions that improve public safety and mobility.

You will collaborate with engineers, designers, and technicians in the design of complex, safe, and efficient transportation infrastructure systems including geometric layouts, multimodal planning, preliminary engineering and final design for state, local agencies, and design-build contractors.

2025 Location Note: We are moving! Currently still in downtown Saint Paul, we will be fully moved in at our new HQ in the South Loop neighborhood of Bloomington by April 2025. Check out more about our new office! TKDA HQ 2025


Hybrid Work Environment: Graduate Engineers are encouraged to work in-office 4 days a week while getting started. Once comfortable and successfully managing week to week expectations, enjoy a flexible 3/2 hybrid model (3 days in-office, 2 days remote) to balance work and life.


Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design of highway design, geometric layouts, roundabouts, alignments, profiles, cross sections and other related infrastructure projects
  • Contribute to the production of preliminary and final plans, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Utilize related software to support design and project needs (MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite)


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent
  • 2 - 5 years of experience supporting highway design and/or related transportation design projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)


Preferred Qualifications
  • Active EIT certification or interest in attaining EIT within 6 months of employment
  • Master's degree in civil engineering
  • Previous experience or formal training with MicroStation, Openroads Designer
  • Previous experience developing construction plans and specifications


$74,105 - $89,505 a year
The listed salary range reflects base pay for candidates with 2-5 years of related experience. Compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, and responsibilities.
