We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Financial Crime Operations to lead and enhance our financial crime prevention efforts across the EEA and UK regions. This critical role will oversee all aspects of FinCrime Operations, including Transaction Surveillance, KYC/KYB, and Fraud Prevention. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with a proven track record of managing managers, driving transformation projects, and navigating the complexities of financial crime in a fast-paced fintech environment. A strong background in payments, particularly instant payments, and experience managing risks associated with high-risk merchants and clients is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:- Develop and implement a comprehensive financial crime strategy aligned with the company's growth objectives and regulatory requirements across the EEA and UK.
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for Transaction Surveillance, KYC/KYB, and Fraud Prevention teams.
- Stay abreast of evolving financial crime trends, regulations, and technologies, and proactively adapt strategies accordingly.
Operational Excellence:- Lead and manage a team of FinCrime Operations managers, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure the effective and efficient execution of financial crime prevention processes and controls.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and optimize operational efficiency.
Risk Management:- Oversee the management of financial crime risks associated with high-risk merchants and clients.
- Ensure compliance with AML/CFT regulations and industry best practices across all operational areas.
- Develop and maintain robust risk assessment frameworks and methodologies.
Transformation and Innovation:- Drive transformation projects to enhance financial crime prevention capabilities, with a strong focus on leveraging AI and automation.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead the development and implementation of advanced transaction monitoring and fraud detection systems.
Stakeholder Management:- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including compliance, legal, product, and technology teams.
- Represent the company in interactions with regulatory authorities and external partners.
- Work closely with the product team to influence product development to create more robust fraud and AML controls.
Qualifications:- Extensive experience in financial crime prevention, with a focus on Transaction Surveillance, KYC/KYB, and Fraud Prevention.
- Proven experience in managing managers and leading large, complex teams.
- Understanding of AML/CFT regulations and industry best practices in the EEA and UK.
- Experience managing risks associated with high-risk merchants and clients.
- Demonstrated ability to drive transformation projects and implement innovative solutions, particularly those leveraging AI.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English
- Experience working in a fintech or other fast paced environment.
- Experience with rule based and machine learning transaction monitoring systems.
Preferred Qualifications:- Strong background in payments, with a preference for experience in instant payments.
- Experience with AI-driven financial crime prevention solutions.
