RFP and Grants Manager

At Tutored by Teachers (TbT), we are on a mission to advance equity in education. We believe that when you put a teacher in front of a student, magic happens. Backed by some of the biggest names in EdTech venture including GSV, A-Street Ventures, and TMV, we are on a mission to close the opportunity gap and need a talented and motivated RFP and Grants Manager to join our team.

As the RFP and Grants Manager at TbT, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on student outcomes by helping bring our virtual academic support programs to schools, districts, and charter networks across the country.

The Role:

We're currently looking for a passionate, driven RFP and Grants Manager to join our team. We’ve already built relationships with some of the largest school districts in the United States, and we’re ready to start scaling our offerings even further!

In this role, your core job duties will include:

  • Owning the research and submission of applications to relevant tutoring RFP’s
  • Driving improvements and standardizations in RFP and grant writing processes
  • Support with navigating school partner procurement processes
  • Support with grant writing and related opportunities
  • Proving support to our sales team with research
  • Consulting with colleagues and school stakeholders to understand school partners’ exact needs, and demonstrating how our services can support both their students and teachers through RFP and grantwriting process.
  • Collaborating with the Customer Success, Sales, and other TbT teams in driving RFP and Grants related tasks.
  • Staying up-to-date with market trends and competitor activities
  • Traveling as needed to conferences or partner schools.

There’s no such thing as a perfect candidate—if you read the qualifications below and feel like you’d excel in this role, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t match 100% of the qualifications. Traits that we’ve found are strong indicators of success in this role include:

  • Previous experience as a Grants or RFP writer in the education sector;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.  You will be key in describing our products and services that drive student outcomes in RFP responses and related collateral. Being able to clearly and concisely communicate in writing and speech is vital to this role.
  • The ability to build trust and rapport. People buy from those they trust and like. We’re looking for someone who embodies compassion, warmth, and friendliness.
  • A desire to learn and grow. Maybe you’re always listening to a new sales podcast, or reading a new book. Whatever the case, you find genuine joy in learning and improving, demonstrated by your curiosity and willingness to explore new ideas and concepts.
  • The ability to pivot and adapt. Tutored by Teachers is a startup, and that means that what you do right now might not be exactly what you’re doing in 6 months. To succeed in this role, that should not only be expected, it should sound exciting. We’re looking for someone scrappy: someone who can dive in and start problem-solving wherever needed, and who genuinely enjoys it when solutions aren’t immediately obvious.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience working remotely.  Working remotely is incredibly fulfilling, but can be a tricky transition to make at first. Ideally, you'll have some experience with remote work.
  • A passion for education and closing the opportunity gap. We believe passionately in our mission to ensure that every child has the resources they need to succeed. We want every one of our employees to believe in that mission, too.

  • 100% healthcare coverage option for you and your family
  • Access to 401k to help save for the future
  • Well-rounded wellness benefits, including access to free and low cost mental health resources and support services
  • Fully remote work environment and a flexible schedule
  • Annual in-person team retreats
  • Unlimited PTO
  • The chance to make a meaningful impact on students' lives and contribute to the advancement of educational equity.
  • A competitive salary; the salary band for this role is between $90,000-$110,000+/annually, depending on experience, location, and skills.
