The Student Support Coordinator at the University of Austin (UATX) is a foundational role focused on enhancing student success through academic support services and career development initiatives. The coordinator will assist in developing tutoring, study skills programs, and resources aimed at boosting student performance and preparing them for career success. Additionally, this role will provide essential support for students with disabilities, ensuring the proper implementation of accommodations and promoting accessibility. This dual responsibility allows the coordinator to contribute to both academic and career readiness while supporting students' diverse needs.
Key Responsibilities:- Student Support – Academic Assistance & Career Development:
- Assist in building the Student Support department, including tutoring, academic assistance, and study skills programs.
- Provide tutoring and academic support to help students improve performance and navigate coursework.
- Develop and implement study skills workshops and resources to enhance student success.
- Offer career readiness support, including resume reviews, job search guidance, and interview preparation.
- Help students connect academic experiences to career goals, providing resources and coaching on professional networking, job exploration, and internships.
- Serve as an initial point of contact for career-related inquiries, and promote career services events, workshops, and networking opportunities.
- Collaborate with faculty to identify students who may benefit from academic or career support and connect them with appropriate resources.
- Student Disability Services Support:
- Coordinate accommodations for students with disabilities, including academic and facility-related needs.
- Ensure compliance with ADA and Section 504 regulations, maintaining accurate records and preparing reports.
- Serve as a point of contact for faculty and students regarding disability accommodations and accessibility concerns.
- Support the development of policies and procedures related to disability accommodations and accessibility.
- Assist in providing training to faculty, staff, and students on disability rights and best practices.
Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred) in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Experience in student services, academic support, disability services preferred, or career services preferred.
- Knowledge of ADA and Section 504 compliance, and best practices in providing accommodations for students with disabilities.
- Experience developing and implementing academic support programs, tutoring services, and study skills workshops, with the ability to provide career readiness support, including resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
Physical Requirements:- Minimal physical effort required.
- Work is typically performed in an office environment, with some evening hours required for events, workshops, and career fairs.
- No significant exposure to physical risk.
