You'll collaborate with diverse clients across industries, tackling fascinating projects that leverage cutting-edge technologies and methodologies. In this role, you will leverage a holistic approach to problem-solving, use visualizations to find consensus, and then the right solution in collaboration with users and client stakeholders. Parts of the job include creating user research plans and designing and conducting research activities with users that help teams gain a deep understanding of the environment in which the service is used. The ability to explain abstract and complex situations in a straightforward, easy-to-understand way is essential. You will be on a team tasked with delivering user-focused, innovative solutions, accessible services, efficient business processes, and a consistent user experience. Your aim should be to enable users to do their goals more effectively and efficiently with fewer errors. You will work out the best way to let users interact with products, services, business processes, and applications in terms of both overall flow and efficiency and at the level of individual design elements.

Your Key Responsibilities:
User Research & Design Strategy:
- Spearhead user qualitative and quantitative research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to gather insights.
- Facilitating client facing conversations toward prioritizing and solving problems to provide the greatest value
- Analyze research data to identify user needs, pain points, and opportunities for design innovation.
- Lead the development user personas, journey maps, and other design strategy artifacts to guide the design process.
Design Execution & Delivery:
- Create and oversee high-fidelity prototypes, wireframes, and user flows to illustrate design concepts.
- Develop detailed design specifications and documentation to guide development and implementation.
- Deliver high-quality design solutions that meet project objectives and user need, are maintainable, scalable, and efficient
- Supporting front-end developers in creating design systems and UI libraries for web and mobile apps
Team & Practice Contributions:
- Take responsibility for less experienced members in the team
- Lead clients and teammates to reach consensus on project strategy and impact plan
- Encourage and engage in collaboration with the design team, engineering leads, product manager managers, client success leads, and clients to reach the best outcomes
- Contribute to the growth and development of UDig's design practice through knowledge sharing, coaching and mentorship.
- Lead in internal initiatives to improve design processes, tools, and best practices.
- Stay abreast of emerging design trends, technologies, and methodologies.
- Move forward in your career through UDig-funded training and promotion paths
What You’ll Need:
Core Competencies:
- Design thinking, including defining user desirability
- Experience with workshopping techniques and facilitating workshops
- Presentation skills and story telling
- Solution oriented
- Comfort with ambiguity
- Prototyping
- Experience diving team collaboration
- Experience with Qualitative and Quantitative user research and tools
- Design Project Planning and delivery model Experience (Agile methods)
- Ability to drive clarity from complicated concepts and break problems down into parts
- Expert in Figma or other equivalent design software
- Experience with UX research, competitive analysis, developing personas, heat mapping, wire frames
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of design experience with digital products
- Demonstrated UI/UX design experience, with a few examples you’re proud of that you can walk through
- Execution of UI design principles related to page hierarchy, scale, alignment, typography, white space, ease of flow, etc.
- Expert knowledge of Figma (preferred) or equivalent design software
- Experience leading at least one additional design resource on a client project
- Strong consultative skills and effective communication capabilities that align efforts and build client relationships.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, design, psychology or related field
Bonus Points:
- Previous experience within the consulting industry
- ADA experience or certifications
- Advanced prototyping skills
- Experience with enterprise design systems
- Interest in or experience with conversational UI/UX
- Industry specific experience ( Retail, Manufacturing, State and Local Government, Healthcare, Finance)
