Overview:
Are you a passionate student seeking hands-on experience in the dynamic world of events, sports marketing and management? USTA New England, the governing body of tennis in the region, offers an exciting internship opportunity! Dive into the operational and business aspects of recreational sports, and learn how we promote and grow tennis in New England. Interns will gain a comprehensive understanding of event coordination, marketing, and project management. This internship will run for 10 weeks from June 2 to August 4, 2025. The internship is part-time 4 days a week and is scheduled to work up to 32 hours per week.
USTA New England will be hiring three (3) interns; two in sports marketing and one in events and partnerships. Please indicate in your application to which internship you are applying.
Marketing (2 positions) Highlights:
- Marketing & Communications: Develop marketing materials, create engaging social media posts, and write compelling content to use on multiple platforms. Curate and develop print/story content for usta.com. Complete at least two written assignments.
- Digital Media: Hone your graphic design, photo, and video editing skills for social media platforms. Analyze social media performance and provide insights. Support content creation including but not limited to: reels, high-quality and relatable photos, caption writing and posting.
- Project Management: Collaborate with USTA New England staff from other departments on comprehensive projects, delivering proactive updates. Present on intern projects and other completed assignments during the final week of internship.
- Event Support: Play a key role in organizing, coordinating, and attending events that align with our mission. Arrive on time to events & functions and complete assignments and projects by specified deadlines. Assist with conducting various audits of physical inventory stock to support programs and events.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to members and volunteers.
- Sponsorship & Partnerships: Assist executing sponsorship deliverables.
- Other duties as assigned
Events & Partnership (1 position) Highlights:
- Event Execution: Assist with organizing events, attend events to ensure brand visibility, and handle event set-up and breakdown.
- Project Management: Collaborate with USTA New England staff on comprehensive events delivering proactive updates throughout the project.
- Present on intern projects and other completed assignments during the final week of the internship.
- Social Media Savvy: Create engaging event-related social media content (reels, photos, captions, etc.
- Project Collaboration: Partner with USTA New England staff in other departments on projects, providing regular progress updates to your manager.
- Customer Service Champion: Deliver top-notch customer service to members and volunteers.
- Partnership Support: Assist with executing sponsorship deliverables.
- Inventory & Reporting: Help with inventory audits and present your internship work during the final week.
- Other duties as assigned

- Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Knowledge of tennis is a plus!
- Must be available to work Sunday June 8, 2025, Friday June 20, July 7-10, 2025, July 11-12, 2025

Position FAQs
- Who does this position work with? The events and partnership internship will report to Chrissy Lyons, Events and Partnership Manager. The marketing internships will report to one of James Maimonis, Manager of Media and Communications or Josef Langton, Marketing Coordinator. All three positions collaborate with the marketing team and all other teams at USTA New England.
- What does Hybrid mean for this role? We have an office in Westborough, MA. The applicant must be able to travel to the office on Wednesdays to meet with the team. This person may need to attend additional meetings / all staff meetings in the Westborough, MA office.
- How much does this position pay? This position is seasonal and part-time (4 day work week) and pays $16/hour
