Training Manager

We started Van Leeuwen Ice Cream in a yellow truck on the streets of NYC in 2008 with a mission to make good ice cream that makes you feel good.

In an effort to support the company’s growth, Van Leeuwen’s Learning & Development Team is seeking an experienced, outgoing Training Manager who is passionate about supporting professional development for Team Members at all Operational levels.  The Training Manager will be responsible for executing, maintaining and reporting on Training Programs, as well as supporting Operations Communications.  The person in this role will work closely cross-functionally and with our retail operations partners in a hybrid environment in-shop, in-office and remotely.

Responsibilities

Training Program Support

     Scooper Training Program

  • Identify gaps in Scooper Training Program, and works to document procedures with execution steps and supporting media (images, videos).
  • Supports compliance of the Scooper Training Program by identifying execution gaps and partnering with Retail Managers to ensure program understanding and ongoing execution.
  • Assist in identifying high potential Team Members providing contributions for succession planning efforts.
  • Facilitates Train-the-Trainer for NSO Market Leaders to support shop opening training schedule.

     Certified Training Pro Program

  • Facilitates Train-the-Trainer for Training General Managers and validates understanding, facilitation skills and execution of the CTP Live Training.
  • Completes Certified Training Pro Program administrative duties ensuring accurate records, including weekly reporting on candidate progress, LMS enrollments, grading assignments, and updating/maintaining the CTP Roster.
  • Supports in coordinating CTP deployment for New Shop Openings.

     Shift Leader Training Program

  • Executes Shift Leader Program training, providing feedback, coaching and ongoing support to Regional Training Partners ensuring understanding of programming and validation of facilitation skills.
  • Completes Shift Leader Program administrative duties ensuring accurate records, including weekly reporting on candidate progress, LMS enrollments, grading assignments, and updating/maintaining the Shift Leader Roster.

     Manager Training Program

  • Updates and maintains the MIT Roster weekly, ensuring accurate record keeping.
  • Conducts weekly check-ins with MITs ensuring candidates are adhering to the MIT Training Schedule, validating knowledge, and providing support to MITs, flagging outstanding performance and issues alike to leadership. 
  • Reviews Weekly Reflection Assignments and formulates thoughtful responses, addresses indicated issues, missed deadlines or incomplete assignments while informing the appropriate leaders if necessary.
  • Assists in creating the internal Manager Training Program, including qualifications, interview process, program framework and content.
  • Upon program creation, responsible for leading internal MIT Program, including, hosting webinars and facilitating in-person Training Sessions.
  • Completes administrative duties ensuring accurate records, including weekly reporting on candidate progress, LMS enrollments, updating and maintaining MIT Roster

Administrative Responsibilities

      Learning Management System

  • Responsible for LMS account management, including adding new users, deactivating accounts, level grouping and enrollments.
  • Assembles weekly reporting for Training Program completions, Limited Time Offerings completions, and other necessary courses/curriculums. 

      Communications 

  • Creates and delivers a Weekly Operations Communication sent to Retail Leadership, containing details surrounding weekly action items, updates, reminders on SOPs, and weekly operations focus.
  • Supports go-to-market initiatives by gathering training content for Monthly Launch Communication.
  • Assists in collecting content and suggesting ideas for the Monthly Company Newsletter.

Qualifications

Professional Experience & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have… 

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Training Manager in a related industry, hospitality preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education, hospitality management, or human resources.
  • Strong experience and confidence with Google and Microsoft Suite applications.
  • Previous experience with backend LMS management.  
  • Excellent and engaging communication and presentation skills.
  • Organizational skills that enable successful management of multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while dealing with ambiguity and adapting to rapid change.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring the high level of accuracy.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to build fast, strong relationships through trust, reliability and genuine kindness.
  • Proven calendar management skills to maximize productivity, while maintaining and ensuring work/life balance.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a sense of urgency and ease in multitasking and prioritizing competing deadlines.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Experience with e-learning and design tools including (Articulate, Adobe Suite, FinalCut Pro) a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to maintain stationary position to be able to operate a computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods of time in a retail environment.
  • Must be able to occasionally move or transport items up to fifty pounds.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Compensation & Benefits

$85,00.00 - 120,000.00 annual compensation depending on experience, paid weekly
